Both yours and Ingrids Coments are perfect and right on the money. This is something else isn't it. Must have been in a helicoptor?

Hey, look!!! I`m in this pic, next to the right audio deck (clear to all?) if you are front to stage, almost in the middle of the field...

Coldplay... where are you now? Greatest band in the world? Where? First do what U2 has been doing for 25 years... and still do it... without getting an attitude... still be relevant... Can you just look at that.... What a sight...

I saw Coldplay in Oakland California in the same arena that I saw U2 last November. They weren't bad, but not even remotely close to U2!!! It is a laugh to think they are even on par with them. Greenday is better live than they are(as far as a younger band)!! Chris Martin doesn't know what to do with himself on stage and copied a lot of Bono's moves that didn't come off too well at all. Seaking of Greenday, they came to the U2 show in November and sat in the fancy seats hidden along with Robin Williams and Sean Penn, Nobody big came to see Coldpaly. Chris Martin only thanked the people who desinged their wardrobe. I think what he said will haunt him for his career that is for sure!!

what's this about coldplay? they think they are better/or even with U2? are they nuts? I have to go to their concert next Monday, not looking forward to it.

Melissa don't be too hard on them. The lighting is kinda cool and one thing they do with the song "Yellow" is fun. You may want to freak out who ever is going with you and say, wouldn't it be neat if all these yellow balloons float down when they sing "Yellow?" That is what happens and it is kinda cool. Chris Martins voice was fine on the night I went ,but to see him blow it at the grammys was sad!!! I think they are light years away from U2 and for him to try and copy some of Bono's moves is just plain sad. You will notice that he just doesn't have a great connection with the audience and then when he tries to hug the guitar player like when Bono cozies up to the Edge or Adam, it just doesn't work. In my show the guitar player actually looked angry with him when he grabbed him.So if anything when you go check out how some of the lights look like U2's also. Melissa I forgot where you are from? Let me know if you had the same impression of them as I did. The songs were enjoyable, but they are nothing to look at compared to our hot guys!!!

If I'm not mistaken - and I am often:) - I though Chris Martin said that he and the band aspire to be as great a band as U2 - they even have pics of U2 in their rehersal room to keep them inspired - I didn't think they were saying that they were comparing themselves to them.

We like Coldplay, but WE LOVE U2!! That's the point!
From: lalatoots on 2006-02-25 03:36:33
Well, absolutely thats the point, I was just trying to say that I dont think Coldplay themselves think they are as great as U2, but they aspire to it

Well one things for sure folks,Coldplay are going to have do do a lot of catching up,to get anywhere close to U2(26 years to be exact!)There where rumours around after this years BRIT AWARDS that they where going to split up!Anyway, their current album X&Y sounds a bit like a U2 rip-off to me-lots of EDGE like guitar solo's going on!Also Chris Martin doesn't have the stage presence that Bono has-oh,yeah nice to see that Bono's in the running for this years NOBEL PEACE PRIZE-Cool!
From: Ingrid on 2006-02-25 17:51:48
chris martin made a few statements that annoyed most U2 fans.... as in, he says his voice is now as good as B's was at the recording of the War album.... can you believe he actually compares B's voice to his squeeking??? oh and they say they absolutely are NOT influenced by u2...
From: Pop-(Miami,my mammy) for Ingrid on 2006-02-25 22:59:31
Hi Ingrid,i don't know what the hell Chris Martin's talking about making that statement???-how he can compare his voice to Bonos on the WAR album-for example,if you listen to Bono's voice on tracks like-'THE REFUGEE' and 'RED LIGHT' he is outstanding!Chris Martin's voice wouldn't get near Bono's in a million years!!!
From: Ingrid on 2006-02-26 16:55:41
agreed... the only point chris could have is that he sings high, and Bono can't do that anymore.... but does he HAVE to squeel trough all his songs?? might be me, but I think his voice is annoying... I like coldplays music, his voice screws the band!at least Bono's voice is pleasant to listen to, no matter for how long, it doesn't annoy me or bore me.. :)

I got nothing against Coldplay's music, their ok, and Martin's voice is also ok 70% of the time... It's his face and comments that bugs me most... And no, of course you can't talk about U2 and Coldplay during the same day!
From: Octu2 on 2006-02-27 21:07:50
Susanne you said it best, that is what I think. Chris looks like a bug to me somethimes and when I was at the concert, the whole time I was worried for him that he was going to mess up. That isn't a good thing.

went to the coldplay show last night, not too impressed. i just feel like chris martin is always so whiny when he sings, it kinda bugs me. the balloon thing with yellow was pretty cool, and they sang johnny cash's ring of fire, that was neat too. but overall i didn't think it was that great. i also didn't think chris martin knew what he was doing on stage. he just seemed like he was running around clueless most of the time. and he even put his arm around the guitarist and was laying down on the stage singing next to him, which went over as an odd move to most people. the one thing he did do that i liked was that he ran off the stage to the other side of the arena and got up in the crowd and sang for a minute with a group of people. that was cool. overall i guess i give it a 5 out of 10 because i wasn't totally bored. :) by the way, i'm from oklahoma, usa.

You just described the Oakland show!! He did all the same moves including hugging the guitar guy,and was on the floor with him. Also he ran into the audience at our show too. All in all though the really doesn't know what to do with himself up there. At our show, he did admit it though!!
