Thanks Ingrid. It was a phenomenal show! Bono held my hand several times and I was just loopy over that! I'm looking forward to seeing them in Las Vegas this November. Thanks for the comment.
From: Ingrid on 2005-10-12 20:38:04
ohhh did you met him also during that show??? how were they back there? tell me all about it ^^
From: Tamsen Morin on 2005-10-12 20:58:55
No, I didn't meet the boys, although we did hang out after the show hoping to! It was a great night. The venue was a riverboat, so after we took off from the dock the show started. I can't remember who opened, a local band, I think, but it was dream like. I had missed them the year before, so I was stoked to catch them on this tour. My friends didn't even know who they were! It took a little persuading to convince them to go see a relatively unknown Irish band. They opened with Gloria and everyone there went crazy. It was all kind of a blur, especially since Bono kept putting his hand out to me, but I do remember when they broke out into I Will Follow, I thought the boat might sink, cos everyone was jumping up and down! I was glad I found this site and was able to share my pics and memories with cool fans like you. You probably weren't even born yet!!:-)Thanks,Tams

wow that sounds truly awesome! even so young, and so long ago, bono allready interacted with the fans... and yeah I heard about them doing shows on boats... that's where they got in touch with Michka Assayas...

Very cool. I've been meaning to read Intimate Conversations, but as life has its everyday goings on, have not yet had time to get into it. Fascinating guys.
From: Ingrid on 2005-10-12 21:14:15
oh you should read Bono In Conversation! it's a great book! I loved it, and read it twice during summer vacation.. it's impressive how many new things you find out when you read something again..
From: Tamsen Morin on 2005-10-12 21:18:03
OK, you've convinced me to put aside some time to read Bono In Conversation. I've always admired his positions on nuclear power, his spirituality and his family. You can really sense that he is truly sincere and means and stands behind everything he says. I suppose that's why I've stayed such a tried and true fan for so many years. Thank you again
From: Ingrid on 2005-10-12 21:20:33
hehe no problem, and I forgot to mention this, the book also gives you a feeling that you know him.. that you understand his point of vieuw... well that's what I had, and some other gals here aswell.,. you feel like you know him a bit better after reading it.. oh and he's very witty in there too!! best chapter in my opinion is : I'll never fit tutanchamons coiffin.. bono's very witty there, hehe but I'm not spoilin anything!
From: Tamsen Morin on 2005-10-12 21:28:21
hee hee :-) Can't wait to start the book. I was still living in New Orleans when the boys were working with Daniel Lanois. Of course, I was hanging aroung the house hoping to catch a glimpse or perhaps meet them all. Didn't ever happen :-( But I was thrilled they were in my city. I definitely felt a connection with the whole band. All of them seem really sincere and down to earth.T

Hello Tamsen.... very nice to meet a fellow lifer..... i see where you say you lived in New Orleans back then .... I know Robbie Robertson was doing alot with the band (pardon the pun! you know what I mean) and Bono made a guest appearance on his album...very exciting by the way... did you ever hear of them hanging in the quarter during that time? If you have any old past around stomped on stories *smiling* we'd love to hear them :)) ..... nice to meet you.... also vera sad about New Orleans what a shame for the whole gulf coast.... anyways nice photo of my man his boots always killed me...luved that look in the day.........grrrr

Hi Soulcatgirl! Yay, another lifer.Nice to meet U2 (yuk, yuk, yuk). Not for the lack of looking, but no, I never did catch the guys on the street. But as a side note, I did meet Robert Plant at the Old Absinthe Bar a hundred years ago! I wish I had a great story for you about running into the guys in the Quarter, but alas, no.What year was your first show? I was able to catch them on the Joshua Tree Tour in Baton Rouge, LA and then not again until the Elevation Tour in Tacoma, WA. There were long lapses as the guys weren't doing too many shows in the Louisiana area for a long time. Closest they would get would be Houston, Tx, Atlanta, etc. No pics as this was a time all cameras were banned from venues. I heard that cameras are allowed now, as long as there is no super lenses, etc. Know anything about this, as I will be at both Las Vegas shows this November. I would love to get my digital in there to share more pics. There are some awesome photos of this tour already posted, so mine might be redundant and not hold a candle to the pro's! But anywho, I'd love to hear what you've heard about cameras at the shows. Please give Matt a big hug for me for managing such a great site!Tams

Hey Trinity! I'm so stoked that you liked the pics. It truly was an awesome show! I think I've bored enough of my friends and family with the photos, so to have an opportunity to share with some true fans is a wonderful experience. I love reading everyone's comments and hearing about their experiences interacting with Bono and the boys. Truly fun read. I've been strolling down memory lane, listening to Boy, October, etc. reliving that magical night. Wow, so cool that everyone has this common interest, U2! Thanks for the comment.Tams

Soulcatgirl, thank you for your sincere sense of loss for those that were/are still living in N.O. and the gulf coast area. It was a sad time for us natives when a large portion of our hometown was lost to hurricane Katrina. The Quarter and Garden District fared well, but not so for most of the outlying areas. Thank you again for being so concerned.Tams

Tamsen, you've come to the right place we never get tired of talking about U2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From: Tamsen Morin on 2005-10-14 16:43:53
Hey soulcatgirl!I was fortunate enough to have a very cool college radio station in N.O. WTUL, and that was the first time I heard "I Will Follow". Whoa, who are these guys! and the rest is history. I love your betacam story. My brother had one of those and when he got it, he thought this was the wave of the future!! HA! Sort of. Things just kept getting smaller!Oh yeah, I did see Led Zeppelin at the LSU Assembley Center in, I think, 1977-78. Boy, am I dating myself! (I'm 44, by the way) Not too sure, I was still in high school. I have pics of that show, still boring the unenlightened (hee hee) with those. I had tickets to their next show at the Superdome in 1980, but tragically, that would never happen. RIP John. I would love to read your story about RP. Such a sexy guy to this day, even though I was always a Jimmy Page freak. Got a thing for guitarists and bassists! Yikes! TMI. Contact me on my e-mail if the RP story is too lurid :-)~

Hey Tamsen, first off I love your first name!! And also happy that there is another 40 something on here!! Welcome. I just turned 43. So it is you,Trinity and I that belong to that club. Soulcat???Well she won't tell :) I think I have her age,but I'm not so sure. I got the U2&i book for my birthday a few days ago and I was looking at all the photos of the boat they were on,and thinking that must have been a true blast. Lucky you for having that great memory. Yes girlfriend you have entered the obsessed vortex of this site of U2 lovers. Do you have other pics to share? My husband will be in Las Vegas for a convention and will leave on the day that U2 arrives for their shows. He was teasing me and said that he was staying the weekend to see them. He will just have to wait for the November show that we are going to in Oakland though!! I saw them in April and now this will be the second go around for me. I'm still green with envy on Soulcats seats though!!! Welcome once again!!!
From: U2TRINITY on 2005-10-14 21:09:51
I must have missed it somewhere Soulcat did you get good seats????
From: Octu2 on 2005-10-14 21:46:18
If I'm correct, I think Soulcat has closer front seats? In the 100's section. What are your seats again Soulie and I can aim a poster your way :)

Hey Octu2! Yayyy another 40 something! What a relief. I still feel 20 something!! Kinda weird, huh? Nahh, I grateful that I have my health and this awesome place to go to for U2 chatter! That's so funny about your hubby! What a teaser. My husband got the tickets for the Las Vegas shows through the MGM. He loves Vegas and goes as often as he can. I do wish I was able to get tickets for the Houston show, but I stayed on the reality plane, and am quite content with 2 shows in November! Thanks for the compliment on my name. I think I just grew into it in the last decade. Oh the teasing and mispronunciations during my childhood! It was awful. In sixth grade, I tried to get everyone to call me by my middle name, Elizabeth. That didn't fly! So, thank you. I am so digging this vortex! It outshines Sedona, AZ in my book! Have you heard anything on the camera issue? Are they allowing them in? I'd appreciate any news you might have on the situation. Thank you for being so welcoming. Everyone has been great.Tams

Hi Tamsen, I was laughing when you were telling the story about your Name!!! Soulcat, about now is smiling to herself, becuase she knows my name is Elizabeth!! BUT, that really isn't the funny part.......The funny part is......Elizabeth is my middle name ,that I go by now at this time of my life. I loath my first name, and I won't even tell you what it is......I had many odd things happen with my first name and people telling me that they really didn't think I fit that name. It wasn't until ,oh about 1996 or so I decided,OK that is it!!!!! So I started going by my middle name and I feel more like myself now. My husbands family are really good about it and made a good transition,my sister, who has a very pretty name, still won't switch. She claims she thinks it is cute and I make it that way. I won't even give a clue becuase it is hideous!! the only thing I can say is ,that it is not made up ,but you rarely come across this name in the United States. It was my Grandmothers name and she hated it too. I made the switch when she passed away as to not offend. SO, that is the funny story. But since I have been going by Elizabeth for almost 10 years now!!Tamsen, I live in the SF area, stones throw away from the City. my oldest daughter and her husband lives in the city, so I spend a lot of time there. About the camera, I think if you had one in your coat pocket you may get away with it. I was never serched at all. At the Greenday on We were not patted down, but they did give a glance, but I probably could have snuck one in easily.Lucky you ,and Soulcat,to have two sets of tickets! I'll be looking for ya Soulcat. Aww your leittle pet will be fine. I left my three year old daughter, with family, and went to Europe for two weeks with my husband. Gerry will be fine. What kind of doggy? Oh and my tickets are:226,way up in the back !!!! :(

HIya girls (and guys if there are any here. hee hee)!Oh, Soulcatgirl! What a cool story about your sis. I think I would have been glommed on to her for months after hearing that story. Mine wasn't so posh, just strolling down Bourbon St. and there was this really cool blind blues guy playing (regular standing gig at the Absinthe House Bar), the place was nearly empty, but there he was, all aglow with that gorgeous hair ( I know what your sis meant) and we just sidled up to the bar and he was the coolest. He was thrilled to meet more locals and get a better feeling for the city (even though the band had already spent tons of time there)! He was very sincere and thoughtful. My friend and I had lots of musician friends, so we didn't linger too long, as RP was enjoying the music. Nothing lurid or really fun (hee hee) but a thrill, none the less. All of my U2 vinyl was adopted by my friend in N.O. in 1990 when I moved to Seattle. Hi Sushigirl! Yay, JH museum, cool. I lived, for a spell, very close to JH's burial spot in Renton, WA. I'd take a walk over there sometimes and just check out what folks would leave! Awesome, cigs, bottles of wine, notes, etc.Hey Octu2! Tooooo funny! I'm dying here! And to think if my dad had had his way, my name would have been Wilhemena! Good Lord. I'm thankful for Tamsen, now!!! My mom is a historical romance freak, so I think she got it from one of her novels she was reading at the time. So cool you live in SF. Dear friends in San Anselmo. Love Stinson Beach, Mount Tam, All of SF and Marin.Hi Trinity! The desert sounds spectacular. I know what you mean about nothing happens here. But the nature's glory oh oh oh. Went for the first time to the Grand Canyon last year (I can scratch that one off the list)! and made it to the high desert outside of Flagstaff, absolutely awesome. I have a friend that lived for a time in Tucson, unfortunately, never made it to visit. The Southwest part of the country has always been on my list of places to visit. I did drive through Albuquerque and I thought it was charming. That whole Route 66 thing was cool. We spent the night there on a leg of our drive from Seattle to Lafayette. Thanks for the info on the camera situation, girls. I guess I will have to be sneaky and charming, uh oh! No grace under fire here! The camera is tiny, so I may have chance! Thanks, lovies.I hope you're all having a great weekend. Looking forward to hearing about the shows!!TamsP.S. Soulcatgirl- Gerry will be FINE!!! I know how it is to spoil your kids! I have one Tortoise Shell kitty. She's the best!

Hahaha, Guess what kind of writer Soulcat is? Made me snicker a bit when you said your mom got your name from a" historical Romance novel" cuz that is what Soulie told us that she writes :)Sorry to say I don't have any cool music stories:( As a teen I lived in a tiny redneck town, and when I graduated from high school, I got the hell out,but the university I went to was still far away from civilization. Guess who came and played at my Uni? Get ready to laugh BIG TIME....."Air Supply" Ok you can all stop laughing now. My roomate LOVED them and I got tickets to their show for her birthday. I was dying a thousand deaths being there I tell ya,and we had front rwo seats, so my ears were ringing for quite sometime.!!! So by the time I did move to the Bay Area, I had my first kid,so I couldn't really go to any rock concerts. Also since my husband was in graduate school,we were always broke. Although I should have come to the city the day U2 played at the Embarcadero!!! I love that clip of them playing there, I think in 88. Oh well, now i"m making up for lost time. My brother in law thinks I'm having a mid life crisis going to rock concerts. I don't think I am :) I love being the age that I am I must say. I would still love to have been their in the real early days of U2,even though I was a fan, I didn't get to see them until this tour :( Better late than ever I say.Peace out girls....
From: Susanne on 2005-10-17 19:51:55
Well at least you were a fan then, think all that I missed because I realized they're really existing only after hearing beautiful day... (Well that really was a Beautiful Day back then). Tamsen, for somebody like me it has been a real joy to read your stories, thanks for them! :)

well yeah Triny....and I've got a wild imagination too...hihihi....OMG Tams I would say running into RP in a blues bar is pretty darn good! *eyes popping*Oct Air Supply!!!! woot woot....The U2 concert was in 87 and it happened just before I went to see them ....my Mom was flipping out when she heard they'd been there... ;)) I've went to concerts my whole life (i don't drink though I've been known to have a margarita or a glass of white wine...nor drugs ) music is one of my passions....I think of Tams living in New Orleans with all the blues bars with such wonderful diversity of blues cajun jazz rock and i go slightly dizzy from the rush!!! What a thrill for you Tams....I'm gonna ask a question and you might not know him, but did you ever catch Eric Burdon (from the Animals and War) when he was living down there and playing alot? Also Tams have you read any Anne Rice? Was a huge Tennessee Williams fan so naturally I was facinated with your city but when I started reading her I fell madly in love with it..There is something absolutely undeniably facinating about it.....Thats why it was such a tragedy on so many levels when it was devastated... ;(( .. ..I've been watching the news and it seems some life is picking up in the french quarter... Glad you guys have found you fit into your age nicely.....me I will never age past 27 and thats all there is to it!!! hahaha now I just to talk my body into cooperating and I'm set... ;))lol grrrrpssst Oct whats your name....????? ;) hun I'm just teasing I won't tell my name either...but it has to do more with anonymity... :)) thats right I'm a double agent... lol I have two pseudonyms and I don't care for my given name either... but I like Soulcat.. :))Triny your living in the land of imagination and a wild west novel....start writing girl...*smile*
From: Octu2 on 2005-10-19 23:19:34
Won't give up the hideous name for anything. But maybe you should give us your pseudonyms so that we can go and buy your books. Are they out there? If so, I would love to read them. Was you mom flipping out that they were in Humboldt county? Do tell. She didn't go all the way up there to see them did she? Or am I just miss reading your comment?

Hee hee soulcat!! I always felt like I was so out of the loop in N.O.! I guess I just didn't appreciate fully what a grand scope of music there truly is there! I left in 1990 and rode that grunge wave all the way through!I saw Pearl Jam at a tiny little club and Nirvana as well. I was at their cd release party for Nevermind. That was cool. I love Anne Rice...got Queen of the Damned signed by the incredible creature! If you like N.O. writers, you should check out John Kennedy Toole's "Confederacy of Dunces".Poppy Z. Brite has a few novels out that capture the city really well, too. Totally funny and so true to New Orleans life.Yes, Yes. I'm with Oct. Please give up your writing psuedo's. I would love to read your "sword and corset" stuff, if that's what you write! My mom is always looking for a new writer to check out. She reads the same books over and over...like I listen to music! She's a pip.Hey, we're only as young as we feel, and the way the boys are aging so gracefully, I have no worries!Yee haw, two weeks and two days 'til Vegas, Baby! Gawd, I'm getting excited.I think I'll go read some concert reviews and really get the adrenaline going! Love hearing what you guys have to say!Hugs,Tams

Gals that's sweet ....but you know I have anonimity in my writing ... I write in two genre's of fiction and I like to keep my self and my Soulcatgirl seperate from that...for years I've thought of spilling but then I wouldn't be Soulcat anymore *crinkles nose*..she would be defunct caput and I don't feel like bumping her off just yet *smiles she's my U2 girl*.....If you gals have read romance chances are you've read me and thats cool but when I wrote the quick little fan fic's I by contractual stipulations "am Not really suppose to be doing that" ...if you know me in my other world thats great and I appreciate your patronage... *winks and salutes*.....Anne is nice and funny nothing like you think at all.... Tam did you say you met her? Was she signing? ...those book tours are hectic and she might not have been at her best..... did you ever go to one of her Halloween Parties? ....vampires ooolala...Heck I think she lives in Florida now and I think her house in NO was designated as a museum....hope it survived the hurrican and flooding???? ....Yiks.... and good lord almighty there's another one brewing AGAIN!!!!! The gulf and Florida are just getting slammed this year!!! *scary* Oh Oct......no she was PO'ed that she missed the free concert in SanFran....she would have jumped at it...:)) pssst she saw Elvis live so she never snapped out of her Rock'n mode either!!!! grrrr :)~

Hi lalatoots! Hey, a fellow New Orleanian! Wacky. I graduated from Spectrum (a magent school at Eleanor McMain) and went to UNO for a few years...say no more!! I started bartending in college and never turned back! I loved the flexible hours and the moolah...gave me lots of free time to go to shows and such. I worked in Fat City for a few years at McAllister's Quarter (Yikes! I might have served you a Long Island Iced Tea. Hee hee) and at a few other local places before I got on at the Sheraton New Orleans. I transferred in 1990 to Seattle and now I'm back in LA in Lafayette. Where did you go to school? Are you still in N.O.? Or LA? So cool to hear that you're from my neck of the woods. I'm so glad you like the pics. I was determined to get photos of this show...I was so glad, in later years, that cameras were allowed in. I'm gonna try to sneak one in to the Las Vegas shows, but my hubby has a camera phone, so if my camera gets confiscated we'll, hopefully, get some shots with the phone! I'll definitely be sharing with you all.My best to you all,Tams

But have been back here since my oldest was born (16 years). In Covington now. I wonder where I was when played on the river! Maybe still in high school!! Hope yall made it through Kartrina and Rita okay. By the way, all the stores here Rolling Stone magazine has Paul McCartney. Where is Bono?

i'm sad for you guys not having the new Rolling Stone,as the cover is of his face and it takes up the whole page!! As I mentioned in my other post, I also downloaded,or should I say my lovely husband downloaded, the actual interview on my iPod!! So, now I have Bono's voice on my pod, talking for one hour.
From: Ingrid on 2005-10-24 18:21:53
lol I am watching conan now.. the smirk bono makes while he says the thing about the tall puppy syndrom... I can't stay serious with it.. they're so witty! the song pieces still don't run very good on my pc, but the talking works ^^ I really like it! hehe and oct, I've seen the cover, that makes me want it even more!!!!!! and I think that podcast is also downloadable on the pc.. well I hope ^^
From: octu2 on 2005-10-24 18:43:38
yes, you might be able to down load it to the computer, but i can get cosy in mt bed and listen to it all relaxed in bed.
From: Ingrid on 2005-10-24 19:09:19
hihihi I read that completely wrong oct... but you could even dream of him that way, to find out when you awake that your ipod was still on ^^
From: Susanne on 2005-10-24 20:10:56
Heh, I saw on Friday the Conan episode where Edge says "Bono hits us"... Dropped off the sofa, I did... I've been watching Conans quite closely now, when he is making lot of jokes about our president... And that's why Conan tripled amount of his viewers here...
From: Ingrid on 2005-10-24 20:16:16
*sniff* I haven't seen that friday ep! I'd love to see it! the bono part especially about the nobel peace prize... I read about it on atu2.com... and I fell off my chair!
From: Octu2 on 2005-10-24 20:33:01
I find that if I listen to U2 before bed, I can't sleep very well afterwards, because I'm singing the songs in my head FOREVER!! But listening to the interview is fun since it is just his voice. I'm worried that in the interview it said he had a scare of cancer in his throat! He said that he is out of the woods, but what if they removed something and it could come back? I'm worried, since I think when he was talking to Conan his voice seemed a bit raspy. :(
From: Ingrid on 2005-10-24 20:34:36
wHAT???????? o_Othat really doesnt sound very good!!!! okay I'm getting that intervieuw now!
From: Octu2 on 2005-10-24 20:36:55
I know, it really has me worried that they might not be telling us the truth and he is having troubles that will come to light later :( That would suck big time!!! He said that he was real scared that he might not see his kids grwo up,but that he is out of the woods now. What that means is anyones guess. I hope it was just a nodule that was not cancerous.
From: Ingrid on 2005-10-24 20:39:17
what means out of the woods???also, it might have a sense of truth, since cancer is in the family, to say it that way... and his father had it you know... my both grandpa's died of it when I still was young...
From: Susanne on 2005-10-24 20:41:21
Oh dear, now you got me all worried Oct...
From: Octu2 on 2005-10-24 20:52:42
I'm worried since he seems like he is having guest sing on this leg of the tour. And Susanne did you notice on that he was having a bit of trouble with the first song then he sounded super raspy when he talked to Connan. I want him to stop smoking those stupid cigarettes.

From: Octu2 on 2005-10-24 21:29:20
I'll let you know how it is when we see them in November.
From: Patty on 2005-10-24 21:38:41
I saw them on Oct 17th in Phili and Bono was a bit raspy for the first couple of songs, but when he sang Miss Sarajevo I have never heard his voice sound so beautifull. It was perfect!
From: Ingrid on 2005-10-24 21:45:11
did you take pictures? were there any special moments there?? hehe I'm really curious I know ;)
From: Patty on 2005-10-24 22:12:08
Ingrid the show was amazing! Yes I took pictures. If you go to the reviews and look at the philadelphia Oct. 17th show all the pictures from Patty are mine. My friend and I got into the ellipse. I was 5 or 6 people from the stage dead center. Our man was right in front of me!!!I was that close only one other time in 1987 when I was in the front row. Any way, when the show was over I felt like I had been on an emotional rollercoster. It took me 5 days to come down from that feeling. One of the cooest things that happend was that B was drinking a bottle of water, then he squirted the rest of it into the audeience and all over me. I was thinking that his mouth was on that bottle!!AHHHHHHHHH! Also, he was reaching out to this little girl so she could sing "NO MORE" from Sunday bloody Sunday, and he was just out of my reach. I meen about 5 or 6 inches. Thats when I got the close up pictures with the head band on. I've been in Bono lalaland ever since. I'm going to try to see them in NY and Boston if I can.
From: Ingrid on 2005-10-24 22:14:45
ohh I love to hear people talk abouit shows... dunno why but it gives me energy, it makes me wanna sing the songs I'm listening to loud... makes me happy ^^ great thing that you had a great time!

Oct I can tell you we all knew he was having trouble with his voice on Pop...it was a very hot topic.... he did not sound at the top of his game when i saw him but I so loved that album I felt alot of empathy for him....we knew he was having throat problems and I can remember talking about him maybe having throat surgery to my mom. We had alot of speculations we bantered around....we didn't know exactly but we knew it was bad...ok do you get what I mean? When he said he didn't take good care of his voice that was during POP interviews we were worried...When he came back later to carry on Elevation Tour he said he'd learned to take better care of it and we could tell from the first live appearance...I have to tell you that hoarse gruff talking voice IS HIS VOICE...he has a BITCHEN sexy as hell voice ....SH-- I love it! *shivers* Also he has always had trouble on tour keeping his voice...he had larengitis at many shows on JT and at ZOO (some indoor shows) and so forth to today ...it happens...plus he gets sick ...I can remember one such time of my Zoo Oakland arena shows(first night) he was sick as a dawg but he absolutely kicked ass and drank a ton of champagne saying it would go good with his medicine!!!hahaha after that he went into what I refer to as his "oh babaaaay let the good times roll" mode....he was doing some very sexy things with some very pretty girls and to hell with preaching! hahaha That man can dance when he wants to girls....! I was pretty close at that show.... he told the next night he was sick out of his head the night before and drank way to much!!! I wanted to yell "YEAH WE KNOW!!!! PLEASE DO IT AGAIN!"....hihii.... As far as people singing at there shows they've always had guests....Elevation tour was the one that I think had the least guest out of all except for the early tours...hell in 87 the crowds at Tempe did alot of singing ...the indoor too....I read over at Atu2 a reviewer where the guy said there was to much crowd singing and I thought to myself "Was that his first U2 show? Ever? .....Obviously if he thought it was unusual! ...... Hell there shows have always been part revival.....*smile* Well just wanted to put my two cents in because I was reading some comments that sounded like you were worried about him....Patty your lucky it was water and not booze!!! hahahaha... being so close you would have gotten nailed! Where were you again in 87? Was it the indoor (first leg) or second leg outdoor?....bonolalaland....may you never leave it!!!! woot woot.... Love your photos esp. the headband one.. grrrr!
From: Octu2 on 2005-10-25 18:04:08
Soulcat, thanks for the comment on his voice. I kind of knew he did have a raspy voice as far as when he talks and sings....I was just worried for him when I read that in the Rolling Stone article the other day. In the Anton Book there is a picture of him with a machine to inhale medicine. We have the exact machine when my daughter had an Asthma spell. all of a sudden I can't remember the darn name of it. But my daughter laughed when she saw the picture, since she remembers how unfun that was!! As I said in an other post, I think his raspy sexy voice is at it's best on the Rattle and Hum album. I love his voice in all incarnations, but that one is amazing. so I just hope he is being a good boy and taking care of his gift
From: Ingrid on 2005-10-25 18:08:17
o_O he was on a breathing machine? which era was that??? oh lord, this really sounds baaaad!
From: Patty on 2005-10-25 18:26:19
Soulcat, glad you like the pics. I saw the JT 1st leg at the Worcester Centrum 2 shows, and again on the 2nd leg at Foxboro stadium. Both are in Mass, where I am from. My first U2 show however was The Unforgettable Fire in 85. I was 14 and I have loved them since. Oh and OCT..I think the breathing machine is called a nebulizer. I have to get that Anton book!!
From: Octu2 on 2005-10-25 18:28:39
Thanks Patty for the name of the machine!! It was driving me crazy to remember. don't worry Ingrid. the machine isn't a breathing machine,it is a way to get meds in your lungs and this one looked like it was for his throat. It isn't serious.
From: Ingrid on 2005-10-25 18:32:04
well,... it still doesn't sound very good either..... I hope he'll be ok! otherwise he has to stop touring and get into hospital... maybe we could be the nurses^^
From: Octu2 on 2005-10-25 18:35:27
Ingrid, the picture we are talking about is a very old one. I don't think he is using this machine now.
From: Susanne on 2005-10-25 18:47:49
Hmmmm... Let's just hope that he isn't smoking that much anymore, that surely doesn't make his voice any better... Although it must be hard to give in something like that, good thing I never liked the taste of smokes and never started that... But I also like in some songs about the way his voice cracks, like "In a little while". It does make the songs more, hmmmmmm, emotional and also a bit darker...
From: Ingrid on 2005-10-25 18:49:40
well bono's just a stupid nut that he started smoking after all!! a singer shouldnt smoke! and he got caught smoking in the clarence with the Red hot chilli peppers somewhere last yaer... so I guess he still smokes..
From: Octu2 on 2005-10-25 19:07:11
Seems like so many people smoke in Europe. Living in California, where smoking is restricted in restaurants and most public buildings,it was hard for me living in France with soooo much smoke. I saw a picture of both Ali and Bono Smoking. I find that a bit funny since I read that Ali is a vegetarian. whats the point in trying to be that healthy if you are still smoking!!
From: Ingrid on 2005-10-25 19:13:12
vegetarian is totally not about being healthy or not oct! it's about that the ppl don't want to eat meat, because animals are killed for it... well and I think it's bad that they both smoke... a bad thing for their kids! and I read a story Ali told about Bono who used to cook in the early days, 'some sort of pork thingy' but when she became vegetarian, he couldn't do anything anymore..
From: Susanne on 2005-10-25 19:14:07
Oct, was it that pic where Ali is sitting in Bono's lap? I rather think they were both bit drunk in that one, although how would I know that... And they are trying to restrict the smoking whole time here, I think, there's lot of discussion about bars and restaurants coming non-smoking area entirely. I really hope that's going to happen....
From: Ingrid on 2005-10-25 19:16:20
I think that's the one... where Bono's holding a bottle of Heineken(yay dutch pride!) hm smoking is restricted in most public area's here in europe.. at least it is in Ireland, england, dutchieland... and I don't know wich other countries
From: Octu2 on 2005-10-25 19:21:35
Well I guess not in France. When I was at Paris Disneyland, everyone was smoking up a storm in line for the rides!! Yuck! Here in Cali,if you lit up in Disneyland they would quickly tell you to put it out and the butt would be gone in two seconds. I saw that in action when i was there. In France there were ciggy butts everywhere and I think that was so sad to see.
From: Soulcatgirl on 2005-10-26 11:52:53
Patty that is sweet ....I wish I had seen Unforgettable Fire Tour .....I've always regretted not seeing them...damn! The thing I've never understood was how they always refer to that tour as not going well and I've clips off of it and the making of the album and I can't figure out why....I know the darn thing probably kicked butt so wonder why there so hard on themselves.... ? I would luv to have a full concert of one of the shows in a small club... It would make me squuuuuueeee alot... hahahaha...grrr
From: Octu2 on 2005-10-26 19:48:09
You know as an artist you are always tough on yourself. It is like when I make something and I know all the mistakes, but everyone says what mistakes. It is good that they are like that,so we get good stuff all the time.
From: lalatoots on 2005-10-26 19:51:56
So right, after every one of ny sons shows, they all come back to watch the tape and all you hear them talk about is their mistakes. Guess that helps build that thick-skin. Glad they are hard on themselves, cause they won't settle for less.
