i never get this picture, why is bono playing a les paul and for what song?

Bono was using two Les Paul Customs early on in the PopMart tour. A black one, seen in a number of Pop era studio photos and this one. What song did this guitar guet used? Bono used this guitar for "Last Night On Earth", later preferring to use the sparkle red Gibson ES-175.
