11.11 Helau Alaaf its Fastelovent and parts of germany (esp. the part I live in Cologne and the Rheinland) are going absolutely nuts!!!!I am not going...hehe...but theyre playing Karnevalsmusik on the radio the whole day....its going to my legs at least a bit...hehe.Today is Weiberdonnerstag what means that esp. the women are going nuts and nuts is not meant in the way it means on "normal" days. They are givin "bützjen" (bussies) to everyone who crosses their way, are dressed in redicolous costumes and acting like wild going donkeys!!!!! Unbelievable.Gotta go and have myself some champagne with my collegues...sometimes its good to be a girl ;-)

I am this girl crying... I´m still stuck in that moment!!!

Sorry guys,i've got to intervene here and say(no offence intended to anyone on this)but,i absolutely hate this photo.Number 1-it's blurry,Number 2-it looks like someone put the camera in the air hoping for a good shot,Number 3-a five year old kid would probably take a better picture,Number 4-if you showed someone this, how would they know that this was a U2 gig-could be any gig on the planet???DREADFUL
From: Aleksandar Brussels on 2006-02-25 16:37:40
Sorry POP but you obviously dont know the meaning of photography! Catch is that it doesnt matter if it's not perfect in tehnical sense, it's good when it pass the EMOTION of the moment. That's all about photography.ps. Take a look for some of my pics from Brussels concert, they are far from being tehnicaly perfect but the emotion of the moment is what's count.Regards!
From: Susanne on 2006-02-25 16:44:00
Amen to that, Aleksandar. Besides I welcome all the U2 concert pics, since I don't have a chance to get to the concert and I have never been one... I think all of the pics tell about the spirit of the concerts very well, whether perfect or not... So keep on sending them, people... I'll keep on watching them... :)
From: Ingrid on 2006-02-25 17:56:30
POP, it might be not a great photograph, but it IS a great picture!for the people in it, it doesn't matter if it would be sharp or not, it makes them relive that moment again, and that's what photographs are about... remembering precious moments...
From: David on 2006-02-25 22:07:16
ok guys, chill out!i think POP has actually made valid points about this photo!(obviously some people don't like to hear a different point of view)i can understand why views vary on this, which is fair enough-but there's no need to be patronising somebody's OPINION!if you took a poll of U2's fans on this photo-some would love it and some would think that's its not the greatest shot in the world either!you have to respect peoples take on this.
From: Susanne on 2006-02-26 17:53:26
David my friend... Maybe it's you who should chill out...
From: U2-3 for Suzanne on 2006-02-26 20:16:15
After reading the last few comments on this picture, people are making their views for & against...fairly!BUT..firstly,everyone needs to calm down..and Suzanne..there is no need to be smart in replying to Davids point of view!..calling him..'my friend',your reply seems quite childish..to say the least!!
From: Susanne on 2006-02-26 21:17:23
Hmmmm, I'm sorry if I upset somebody, I didn't meen to, I forgot you David and U2-3 are (probably) new on these sites and don't know my way to comment pics and might take too seriously what I'm saying. And I wasn't trying to be smart, just part of the loving little U2-community we have here. I have no problem if somebody doesn't like somebody's pics, that's the point here, comment people's pics right? That also gives me right to say my opinion, which was, that I still hope people to keep on sending their pics whether they're good or bad, since I enjoy watching them anyway. Please don't get so heated up, there's no reason, there's room for everybody's comments and opinions... And I still like this pic, whether blurred or not.

That was well put,Suzanne...listen...i have no gripes with anyone who disagrees with me...there's nothing wrong with healthy debate..i would say that people are getting a little hot under the collar..i'm just airing my comment on the photo!!!...this site would be damn boring if everyone agreed on everything!!!
From: Octu2 on 2006-02-27 21:18:57
Here is my opinion. I think if you are artisticly inclined, you look at things differently, POP I don't know if that is you or not. I'm a photographer and when I see this photo I know it is a U2 concert simply because the stadium in the back it packed, and these people look Brazilian. I think whom ever posted this (J.F. Diorio) made a very cool artistically, emotionaly charged photo. I bet you are the type that goes into a modern art museum and sees abstract art as something a child could do. When I was an Art student , I really wanted to make a life mission in educating people with your opinions. but as I got older I realize you really have to "SEE" a certain way to GET IT. If you don't than no one can make you and you have a right to your opinion. I will now decend off my soap box for the day. I will say though, that this photo gives off all the excitement I felt at my U2 concert!!
From: boomcha on 2006-02-27 21:54:28
Oh, I so hate these comments...why do you have to say that you dont like it...just move on to the next. Theres no need to comment every single one and by the by havent seen your name under the other 16000 something.Damn girls have you seen this. There are more than 16000 pics...Matt is that true??
From: Susanne on 2006-02-27 22:27:59
More than 16000 pics??? Oh wow... Then there's awfully lot of pics we haven't commented yet... Poor Matt, trying to keep it all together...
From: POP for Octu2 on 2006-02-28 20:52:41
Mmmmmm...Octu2...firstly,i AM here..and here's my view..just because you are a photographer doesn't qualify your opinion as superior...also how, can you say that the crowd 'look Brazilian'..SOUTH AMERICA is huge & these people look like that they could be from anywhere in that region (& anywhere slighty warm-weather-wise in the world!!!)Also, how can you say that, just because the stadium is packed>it means-automatically that U2 are playing!!!....come,on...if you took out this photo-on it's own-and showed it to people and said 'hey, can you guess what band were playing?'...the majority of people wouldn't know!! Look,i'm a big U2 fan-no question!..but this photo-does nothing for me...be,honest it's an amateur's photograph..if my view is a hard one for people to swallow, then so be it!!

POP are you American? I'm of Latin decent and I can clearly see that at least three of the people in the center look of Latin decent. I went to school with a Brazilian exchange student and the girls with the dark hair could be her sisters in the way they look. True, this photo could be anywhere, but when you go to a show you get super excited. The next day you go on line and look everywhere for other people that went to the same concert. That is how I found this site. My point is, what the hell does this person have to gain from posting this from Sao Paulo? You clearly aren't artistic I could bet. I'm not going to argue the merits of this photo to someone who just doesn't SEE IT. I'm also not going to admit that this is taken by and amature, since I've seen many profession photographers take licence in their art to evoke a mood.
From: Octu2/POP on 2006-03-02 01:39:26
Also POP go to all the pictures on this particular day that this person took photos, they were definately there. Their other pictures are very good as well.
From: Octu2/POP on 2006-03-02 01:50:38
One more thing, the stadium is identical to the other pictures that another fan took. To the left you can see the little polls like in the others. OK that is enough. I think I have defended this persons merits as a fellow photographer!!!
From: Octu2 on 2006-03-03 19:29:22
Huh, wonder where this POP person went???
From: POP/Octu2 on 2006-03-03 23:35:10
Jeeezz!!!...you've posted 4 comments since i've been away..think we'll have to re-name this the 'OCTU2' site or something???..listen, i think i'm seriously getting under your skin..please read my previous comments..im talking about this picture ON ITS OWN...it doesn't matter a jot if it's part of a set..there is nothing wrong; by any stretch of the imagination; in personally saying it's not a great photo..you cannot undermine my take on this...end of story!
From: Octu2 on 2006-03-04 03:03:49
Alrighty then
From: David/Octu2 on 2006-03-06 19:10:44
I have to say, that's one hell of a patronising reply..'alrighty then'..if you're going to answer some one..do it PROPERLY..
From: Ingrid on 2006-03-06 20:21:03
ok wtf was that for? are we criticizing people on their way of speech now? she was just trying to end this long useless argument, and now you are trying to get it all up again... what is your point dude?
From: Octu2 on 2006-03-06 22:13:42
David, I answered him many times!! Like Ingrid said I was trying to end it,since POP really doesn't know what he is talking about :)
From: Susanne on 2006-03-06 22:26:04
Hmmm, seems to me that we are "patronising" everybody, that's the second time somebody used that word under the same pic. Dear dear. This is getting very boring now, everybody just comment what you want and as long as nobody is being rude to anyone I'm fine with different kinds of comments and naturally ready to defend my own opinion and respect others. And Oct... "Octu2's site" would be quite cool... Maybe we should find for you a really really hot Bono-pic and dedicate it to you... ;)
From: Octu2 on 2006-03-06 22:29:35
Yes Susanne, It would be a very hot site if I had one and knew enough computer skills to put one together. CREATIVE and interesting :) This picture would be the back drop :) heehee
From: patty on 2006-03-06 23:11:23
If you all don't mind my 2cents on this one, I would like to say that I love this photo! I think that it captures the pure excitment and joy that one experiences at a U2 gig. The blurred arms and hands give it a sence of movement and energy.I have to agree with Pop that it could be at any concert, anywhere, but this is a U2 site and all of us that have seen U2 live know exactly how these people are feeling! Whether or not the photographer is a professional doesn't matter, He or she captured the moment and was lucky to do so! If any body doesn't like this photo, oh well! They just can't relate.
From: Octu2 on 2006-03-07 18:18:48
You said it Patty.
