Bono back to busking on Christmas Eve
Tonight Bono returned to the annual tradition of busking on Grafton Street on Christmas Eve, an event he has taken part in every year since 2009 (except for 2014 when he was forced to miss it due to hs cycling injuries). His last appearance at this event was in 2013 when he participated in two songs. Tonight he joined fellow Irish musicians Glen Hansard, Hozier, Danny O'Reilly, and members of The Script (among others) for three songs. The first song he took part in was When Love Comes to Town, the second performance of the song this month; an exceptionally rare occurrence. This was followed by Every Breaking Wave. The final song Bono joined in was a cover of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, the first time this song appears in our database.
This is the first time Bono has done two original U2 songs at the same annual busking event; One was previously done in 2009 and 2010, and Desire in 2012. In addition, a Christmas song covered by U2, Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) was previously done in 2011 and 2012. The group continued to sing after Bono took his leave. Some video of the performance can be seen here.
