Rehearsals in Vancouver, 10 May 2017
It is Bono's 57th birthday today, but U2 are still rehearsing. Opening night of the Joshua Tree Tour is, after all, just two nights away. There was both an afternoon and an evening session.
In the afternoon the band rehearsed a number of songs, though not in the structure of a concert setlist. The songs they ran through were:
- Pride
- Streets (incomplete)
- Beautiful Day (including a speech by Bono at the end, which was done multiple times)
- Elevation, with the ending repeated
- Ultra Violet
- One
- In God's Country, with some repetition of specific parts
- Red Hill Mining Town
The evening session featured a lengthier setlist, essentially as a dress rehearsal for opening night. The band ran through:
- Sunday Bloody Sunday
- New Year's Day
- A Sort of Homecoming
- MLK
- Pride
- Where the Streets Have No Name
- I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
- With or Without You
- Bullet the Blue Sky
- Running to Stand Still
- Red Hill Mining Town
- In God's Country
- Trip Through Your Wires
- One Tree Hill
- Exit
- Mothers of the Disappeared / El Pueblo Vencera (snippet)
- Beautiful Day
- Elevation
- Ultra Violet
- One
- Miss Sarajevo
- New song (believed to be named The Little Things That Give You Away)
U2 kept rehearsing after Miss Sarajevo but at a very low volume barely audible outside the venue. The new song was definitely played, hidden as best as possible from curious ears. There were still faint noises emanating from the stadium at 11:30pm local time (Miss Sarajevo having been played before the 11pm curfew), so it seems likely the band ran through other songs as well, but if so we have no information on what these might have been.
