The third leg of U2's Joshua Tree Tour 2017 commences tomorrow in Detroit, and the band have been soundchecking today. We can also reveal detailed information on the band's daily soundchecks in Vancouver before the tour began in May.

The big news from today's soundcheck in Detroit is that forthcoming single You're the Best Thing About Me has been rehearsed. Go here to listen to a short clip from outside the venue (due warning: the sound is quite muffled!). Edge rehearsed the song extensively through the afternoon with the band's crew and a backing track for Bono's vocals. In the evening Adam and Larry joined Edge, then half an hour later Bono arrived and sang live. The full band ran through the song about three or four times.

U2 did not just work on The Best Thing. They also ran through Sunday Bloody Sunday, Pride, Streets, Red Hill Mining Town, Mysterious Ways, Bullet the Blue Sky, a short version of Trip Through Your Wires, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, and One Tree Hill. The band then left and Edge worked on Ultra Violet. Thanks to a friend of the site for passing on much of this information, and to Joe Ahorro for his informative tweets. Will we see a debut of The Best Thing tomorrow, three days ahead of the single's release? I'm sure most of you very much hope so!

And we can now exclusively share all the soundcheck setlists from Vancouver, where the band rehearsed before starting the tour. There are a lot of them!

What you will notice from these soundcheck setlists is that the band had a pretty clear idea of what they were going to do from the moment they got to Vancouver. The song selection is very settled, with only Elevation emerging late in the picture, after over a week of rehearsals. The new song Little Things was always planned. There are multiple rehearsal sessions on many days, with Edge in particular putting in extensive time on stage, and from day four the main set is clear. The encore does not fully settle, which should come as no surprise given how frequently its order changed on the first leg.

At the end is also the soundcheck in Seattle. This is where Bad entered the frame; it was not done in Vancouver at all.
