The poor weather didn't stop U2 from rehearsing today, and just a few minutes after the last band member entered the arena the music began. They worked on two Songs of Experience tracks, and then after a break of about 3 hours they tried out some more. Two songs were heard for the first time in these sessions, and substantial work was done on one more. With thanks again to U2Songs and their always excellent tipsters, here is what was practiced today:

Raised by Wolves and Sunday Bloody Sunday were both heard for the first time today. In their report, U2Songs notes that the presentation seemed similar to the tour in 2015 with the addition of explosion sound effects. The brief introduction of Until the End of the World also follows that pattern as they were the last three songs of the first set back then. After that substantial work was done on The Showman, both in parts and full run-throughs. They finished off with the piano part from Raised By Wolves.

It is probably not a surprise to find Sunday Bloody Sunday in the mix for rehearsals. With just two exceptions, it has been performed at every regular tour show in the 21st century. This is a far cry from its fate in the decade after the 1987 Joshua Tree Tour: it did not appear at all on Lovetown, made it to just a quarter of ZooTV shows, and a stripped-down version was played for the final third of the Popmart Tour. From the start of Popmart's third leg on 26 October 1997 (which had the second performance of Sunday Bloody Sunday on Popmart, after Sarajevo on 23 September), it has missed just two concerts to date: 21 August 2010 and 23 September 2010, replaced in both instances by Pride.
