Days 2 & 3 rehearsals in Tulsa, 29 and 30 April 2018
The tour opens tomorrow and tonight is expected to be one of rest for U2 (unless they decide to spring a surprise dress rehearsal on us all). A rest would certainly be deserved after the last two nights of work, which you can read about below. Day 2 focused mainly on sections of the show, repeating certain songs and transitions multiple times. Day 3 had a run down on what seems to approaching the final set, with some more work reportedly done after. The band were there until 3am working out the details, but they were kind to the fans waiting in the GA line by ordering some pizzas for them! Thanks again to U2Start for the details:

There are some VERY interesting details in there, not least of which being the snippet during Raised By Wolves. Introduction is a poem by William Blake, and is found immediately after the title page in his collection Songs of Experience. If you look here you may find the poem instantly recognizable; U2 recorded a version of it under the title Beautiful Ghost (Introduction to Songs of Experience). It would have felt quite odd (at least to me) for a tour revolving around Songs of Experience to not have included U2's Beautiful Ghost in some manner. We are currently listing it as Introduction rather than Beautiful Ghost as it is presently just the lyrics by William Blake that is being snippeted.
Also of interest is the return of MacPhisto (U2Songs have an excellent write-up of his history here). They have confirmed that the character was heard in the Laval rehearsals also. At that time he was heard at the end of HMTMKMKM over what appeared to be the Influx remix introduction of Elevation, with the phrase "My name is Mr. MacPhisto, I’m here to sing for your soul. The goal. Is Elevation." on 14 April. Others lines were heard being practiced by Bono at various other times. In the first day Tulsa rehearsal he introduced HMTMKMKM rather than concluding it. Last night's rehearsal had the character vocalize partway through the second set, between Desire and Acrobat. It seems that he may appear at various points in the show; or perhaps even sings the entirety of HMTMKMKM? And speaking of that song, while rehearsals in Laval included it live it now appears to be used as the Intermission, possibly as a remix made by Gavin Friday. I suppose we shall find out for sure tomorrow night!
