U2 to perform special New York show for SiriusXM subscribers
Are you a current SiriusXM subscriber? Do you want to see U2 in the intimate surrounds of the Apollo Theater in New York? Well then, you better enter this competition.
That's right, in between their Experience + Innocence Tour concerts in Uniondale and Philadelphia, U2 are going to play this special invite-only gig in Harlem on 11 June. At present, the only way to gain entry without a direct invitation is to win the SiriusXM contest—and there will be just one grand prize winner, who will score a trip for two to New York and tickets to the gig.
To enter, you have to have been a paid-up SiriusXM subscriber continuously since 25 April 2018. If you're not a subscriber, there's no use signing up now, though you might want to find a friend who is a subscriber and persuade them to take you with them if they win the contest.
Now, let's be honest, even if you are eligible to enter, you are almost certain not to win. But all is not lost! SiriusXM will broadcast the concert, so we can all listen.
This special show might have some goodies too. The last time U2 did a small concert like this, at the Roxy on 28 May 2015, they did a very special setlist indeed, including the only performance of 11 O'Clock Tick Tock since 2001 and one of only seven performances of California (There Is No End To Love) ever.
Our database listing for this event is here. U2 have never performed at this venue as a full band before, but Bono appeared there on 17 May 2012 for a performance of Angel of Harlem (hmm, I wonder what song we could get again this time around?) at a benefit concert for the Jazz Foundation of America.
