U2 Sweep The Grammy's, Play Two Songs
Today, the 48th annual Grammy Awards were held in Los Angeles, with U2 nominated for five categories, including Album Of The Year for How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (although released in 2004, it was released sufficiently late in the year for it to qualify for these Grammy's). Previously, U2 had won seventeen Grammy's, and this year, they brought the total to twenty-two by winning every single category for which they were nominated. In addition to this, Steve Lillywhite won Producer Of The Year.
U2 were not only on stage to receive awards. They also played two songs:
Vertigo
One
One was performed with Mary J. Blige, the fourth time this has happened. One was previously performed with Blige at a Hurricane Katrina relief concert, 8 October 2005, New York, and 5 November 2005, Las Vegas. At the end of the Grammy's ceremony, The Edge joined other famous musicians such as Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Costello to perform a tribute to New Orleans.
