Soundcheck at the Lincoln Memorial
Contrary to initial reports that just Bono would appear at We Are One, the Obama inaugural celebration at the Lincoln Memorial, all of U2 will indeed play. The soundcheck was just performed a short while ago. If you'd rather not find out what the band are going to play in advance, you should skip the next paragraph.
The band soundchecked two songs on a cold Washington DC evening. Neither track was particularly surprising. First was Pride, a predictable selection so close to MLK Day. At the end of Pride, Bono revisited the "not just an American dream" speech he made during Vertigo Tour performances, in which he referenced the ceasefire declared in Gaza. The second track was City Of Blinding Lights, which was played over the PA at rallies during Obama's election campaign. After the soundcheck, Bono thanked the crew for all their work in freezing conditions.
