U2 play Magnificent on Late Late Show
Hot on the heels of their surprise appearance yesterday in London, U2 appeared on RTE TV in Ireland tonight. The Irish Independent reports that the band were to appear on the Late Late Show some weeks ago as part of No Line On The Horizon's promotion, but agreed to postpone the appearance to this episode on the 29th of May, to celebrate the last show of longtime presenter Pat Kenny.
The band gifted Kenny an electric guitar and a pair of shades, sat down for a lengthy chat with him - and indeed played some music. Quite specifically, the song performed was the latest NLOTH single, Magnificent. This appearance marks U2's first live performance in their home country since NLOTH's release on the 27th of February.
U2 are no strangers to the Late Late Show. Their first appearance was all the way back on 15 January 1980, when they played Stories For Boys. Their most recent appearance prior to this one was on 22 February 2008 for a special tribute to Irish musician Ronnie Drew.
