Video of Magnificent on the Late Late Show
As reported earlier, U2 played on Irish TV last night to mark the last edition of the Late Late Show to be presented by Pat Kenny. They performed Magnificent and video is now on YouTube. Watch below:
As an aside, although U2 have appeared on the Late Late Show seven times, this is the first time they have performed their latest single, or even a song from their latest album. Of the six previous appearances, four have been the full band and two have been individual members. In January 1980, Stories For Boys was one of Out Of Control's b-sides on U2:3 and did not become an album track until later that year; both late 1980s appearances featured covers, Springhill Mining Disaster and Happy Xmas (War Is Over); and last year, The Ballad Of Ronnie Drew was played - although a recent single, it was not a purely U2 track. As for the individual appearances, Adam appeared on the show in December 1992 to participate in a performance of Sharon Shannon's The Marguerita Suite, while on Larry's birthday in 2003, Bono and The Edge evidently absented themselves to appear on TV instead, playing Falling At Your Feet with Daniel Lanois.
