U2's Gelsenkirchen setlist, 03/08
Today, U2 played their sole concert in Gelsenkirchen - their second of two shows in Germany for 2009. Earlier in the day, the band held an extensive soundcheck. Both their techs and Snow Patrol's did some soundchecking before U2 ran through a good number of songs. They were Magnificent, I Will Follow, Beautiful Day, Mysterious Ways, Pride, Where The Streets Have No Name, Crazy Tonight, Unknown Caller, Until The End Of The World, and City Of Blinding Lights. After Dublin III, this is only the second time I Will Follow - or any other song from Boy - is known to have been rehearsed on this tour.
The setlist itself, however, did not contain I Will Follow; also missing despite being soundchecked were Mysterious Ways and Until The End Of The World. The concert did include only the third tour appearance of Elevation. This means it is the fourth show since the end of 2001's Elevation Tour to contain all four All That You Can't Leave Behind singles; the previous three were 24 October 2005, 4 November 2005, and 24 July 2009. Also tonight, the band messed up Vertigo after the first verse and restarted the whole song.
