2010 North American tour dates announced
Right as the Los Angeles concert finished today, U2's 2010 North American tour was confirmed. The dates for the 3rd leg of the 360° Tour are as follows:
2010-06-06: Angel Stadium, Anaheim, California
2010-06-12: Invesco Field, Denver, Colorado
2010-06-16: Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, Oakland, California
2010-06-20: Qwest Field, Seattle, Washington
2010-06-23: Commonwealth Stadium, Edmonton, Alberta
2010-06-30: Spartan Stadium, East Lansing, Michigan
2010-07-03: Rogers Centre, Toronto, Ontario
2010-07-06: Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois
2010-07-09: Land Shark Stadium, Miami, Florida
2010-07-12: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
2010-07-16: Venue to be announced, Montreal, Quebec
2010-07-19: New Meadowlands Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey
The shows in Oakland, Edmonton, and Toronto will go on sale on Monday 2 November and Denver will go on sale on Friday 6 November. The other shows will follow later in November. There will be presales for U2.com members; those for Oakland, Edmonton, and Toronto begin on Tuesday 27 October.
The tour announcement mentions "additional dates and cities to be confirmed". However, it also emphasises that the visits to Toronto and Chicago are for "one night only".
The stadium concert in East Lansing is quite a step up from the one and only previous time U2 went there. All the way back on the October Tour, U2 performed in a little club in East Lansing on 7 December 1981.
The concert in Edmonton is only the second time U2 have ever visited there. They first visited on Popmart for two concerts: 14 and 15 July 1997. U2 have only been to Alberta one other time, when the Elevation Tour took them to Calgary on 9 and 10 April 2001.
By the way, this may end up being the 4th leg of the 360° Tour, not the 3rd. Some rumours claim that U2 will tour Latin America in March 2010. If so, you would expect an announcement pretty soon. However, other rumours have claimed Latin American shows will happen after the conclusion of the European leg in October 2010. At this stage, nothing is confirmed.
