U2 perform at Rock Hall of Fame
Today, U2 performed at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame's 25th anniversary concert at Madison Square Garden in New York. Earlier in the day, the band did a fairly extensive soundcheck. This soundcheck included rehearsals of all the guest appearances.
U2 were the last act of the night, following a diverse line-up featuring Jerry Lee Lewis, Aretha Franklin, Jeff Beck, and Metallica. The band's setlist featured a number of guest appearances. Bruce Springsteen and Patti Smith joined U2 for the third song, a cover of Springsteen's Because The Night - and due to missed cues in the first performance, it was played in full a second time, and the intro was repeated a third time. Springsteen stayed on stage for I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, reminiscent of when he inducted U2 to the Rock Hall of Fame on 14 March 2005.
The next guest appearance came when Mysterious Ways segued into the Black Eyed Peas' Where Is The Love?, featuring all members of BEP. At the end, Bono included some lyrics of U2's One. Fergie of BEP remained on stage and Mick Jagger came out, and they performed the Rolling Stones' Gimme Shelter with U2. Fergie then left the stage, but Mick Jagger stayed to exchange verses of Stuck In A Moment with Bono. When U2 recorded All That You Can't Leave Behind, they did a version of Stuck In A Moment with Mick Jagger and his daughter - this has never been released.
The full setlist was:
