Rumours heat up about U2 visiting Chile
Rumours are heating up that a U2 tour of South America will be announced soon - and the news is particularly promising for Chile.
The Chilean newspaper La Tercera is reporting (in Spanish) that U2's promoters have reached a deal for the band to play in Santiago - and that U2 may perform two concerts there. 25 and 26 March 2011 have been pencilled in as concert dates, and if the first show sells as well as the promoters expect, the second show will then go on sale. Should this come to pass, it will be the first time U2 have ever performed two concerts in Chile on the one tour. La Tercera believes that tickets will go on sale in September; not long to wait to see if they are right or not.
In addition, La Tercera says that U2's Chilean visit will be as part of a broader Latin American tour visiting Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and possibly a debut concert in Peru. This, they claim, will take place in late February and March 2011, and will follow an Oceania tour in December 2010 that remains the subject of a lot of rumours and absolutely no confirmation.
