U2 to visit South Africa in February 2011 - confirmed!
We've known it was about to be confirmed since last week, and today came the official confirmation that U2 will take the 360° Tour to South Africa in February 2011.
This will be just the second time U2 have visited South Africa. The first time was in March 1998, when the final two Popmart concerts were held there. Next year's shows will be held roughly 12 years and 11 months since the Popmart shows. The dates are:
Sunday, 2011-02-13, FNB Stadium, Johannesburg
Friday, 2011-02-18, Cape Town Stadium, Cape Town
FNB Stadium is popularly known as "Soccer City", and U2 will be the first band to perform at both venues. Note that the Cape Town date is slightly different to the previously rumoured date; the show is on the 18th, not the rumoured date of the 19th.
Tickets go on sale to the general public via Computicket this Saturday, 23 October. As usual, U2.com subscribers will have access to a presale. The presale begins on Wednesday, 20 October.
