U2's Santiago setlist, 25/03
Today, U2 played their third concert ever in Santiago, kicking off the South American leg of the 360° Tour. The band spent the previous night rehearsing at Estadio Nacional; our report on proceedings is here and we also have some footage from the evening.
One Tree Hill was performed for only the third time this tour, with special guest Francisca Valenzuela. This is the first time One Tree Hill has ever been played in South America, and Bono introduced it as a song about "the love of life and the fear of losing it". At the end, he acknowledged Victor Jara, the Chilean named in its lyrics, an acknowledgement which led into Pride. Meanwhile, in the encore, Bono (not Edge as originally reported) played a guitar snippet of Mothers Of The Disappeared that built into the intro of Where The Streets Have No Name.
Otherwise, the setlist resembled that played at the two South African shows last month. Beautiful Day began proceedings, preceded by the taped Get On Your Boots remix rather than a live performance of Return Of The Stingray Guitar. I Will Follow, Pride, and Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me held on to their spots in the setlist's rotational slots, and Scarlet has continued to survive in the setlist as an introduction to Walk On.
