U2 to perform on British radio and TV
The promotional appearances for Songs of Innocence keep coming. Already announced are performances in Italy and France. Now we can announce two performances in Britain.
First will be a performance on BBC Radio 2. Last month, Jo Whiley jokingly booked U2 for an acoustic session during an interview. It didn't take long for her to turn that joke into reality. U2 will appear on her show on Wednesday next week, 15 October. It broadcasts at 8pm. Reports indicate that this performance at Maida Vale Studios will include three songs from the new album and one older track. Now let's wait and see if it's the acoustic session Bono spoke about last month or if the band crack out some electric instruments too.
The next week, U2 will perform on television for BBC2's long-running show Later... With Jools Holland. This will take place on Tuesday, 21 October, with a half-hour episode broadcast that night and an hour-long episode on Friday, 24 October. Also on Later... will be Interpol, Sam Smith, and Zola Jesus. This will be U2's first appearance on Jools' show, but it is not their first acquiantance. In 2002, Bono re-recorded "If You Wear That Velvet Dress" with Jools and his orchestra for Jools' album Small World Big Band Volume Two: More Friends. Listen at the bottom of this article.
