Bono and Edge on Italian TV
Today, the promotional tour for Songs of Innocence began with an acoustic performance on Italian TV show Che Tempo Che Fa. Although the performance was previously billed as U2, it actually only featured half of the band: Bono and Edge. Neither Adam nor Larry appeared on the show.
After an initial interview with host Fabio Fazio, Bono and Edge performed "The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone)". This was similar in style to the "busker version" on the bonus disc of the deluxe edition of Songs of Innocence, and they performed it while sitting on the interview couch. It was a passionate performance with Bono leading the crowd in a singalong. You can watch it on RAI's website here ("The Miracle" begins at 13:20). Following "The Miracle" was an even more extensive interview, with Bono taking the lead in responding to questions. At the end, the stage was cleared and Bono and Edge performed "Every Breaking Wave". Again this was in the style of the stripped-down bonus disc version, with Edge performing on piano. Watch it here via RAI's website. This was the first live performance of "Every Breaking Wave" since 11 September 2010. Below are two pictures:
