U2 to perform at the MTV European Music Awards
There were some rumours doing the rounds that U2 might perform at the MTV European Music Awards this Sunday, 9 November. Those rumours are true.
U2 will play during the ceremony at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow. They are not, however, nominated for any of the awards. Other artists performing at the ceremony are Nicki Minaj, Enrique Iglesias, Calvin Harris, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, Charli XCX, Kiesza, and Royal Blood. U2 have performed at the EMAs three times in the past. The first time was on 6 November 1997 in Rotterdam and the second was in Stockholm on 16 November 2000. Third and most recently, the first three songs of their set at the Brandenburg Gate on 5 November 2009 were broadcast for the EMAs.
If I may editorialise for a minute, the best of those performances was "Mofo" back in 1997 - the only time to date that "Mofo" has ever played outside of a regular Popmart Tour concert. Good luck topping this on Sunday, lads:
