Eighth and final show announced for New York
It's been almost a month since any shows have been added to the Innocence + Experience Tour, but today U2.com announced an eighth show for New York.
This show will be performed on 31 July 2015 and, like the seven previous New York shows, will be staged at Madison Square Garden. It will be the final show for New York, and the last show for the entire North American leg.
Tickets go on sale at 10am local time on Friday, 13 March. There will be a U2.com presale (for new subscribers and for existing subscribers yet to use their presale code), beginning 10am on Monday, 9 March. Qualifying U2.com members will receive an email with details.
With the addition of this show, U2 have equalled their record for the most concerts in a single city on a single leg of a tour. On the first leg of Lovetown in 1989, U2 played eight shows at Sydney's Entertainment Centre. However, those eight shows were not consecutive, but were played in blocks - three in September, two in October, and three in November, with shows elsewhere in Australia and New Zealand in between. Hence this run of eight is U2's longest series of consecutive shows in one location, beating the seven consecutive shows at the National Tennis Centre, Melbourne, also on the first leg of Lovetown.
