U2's San Jose #1 setlist, 18/05
Today, U2 headed south from Vancouver to the second city of the Innocence + Experience Tour, San Jose. A photograph of the printed setlist leaked online before the gig began. U2 deviated from it in two places. The Troubles, listed between Beautiful Day and With Or Without You, was not performed, while the order of When Love Comes To Town and Angel Of Harlem was swapped.
The first set was the same as the first night in Vancouver, which meant that Out Of Control returned to the mix and California, surprisingly given the location of tonight's show, was not played. The second set, however, contained the same songs as night two in Vancouver. This was a somewhat rare back-to-back performance of Angel Of Harlem (it appeared at consecutive shows just once on the 360 Tour), and it means that When Love Comes To Town - played in Vancouver for the first time in almost 22 years - has got to stick around a little longer. Meanwhile, in the encore, One was dropped for only the second regular tour gig ever since its live debut in February 1992, allowing for I Still Haven't Found to return to the setlist.
Bono was in good humour tonight. Before Iris he joked with the rest of the band. He welcomed the audience to the first night of U2's US adventure and began it with "a deep philosophical question: can you still experience innocence after all these years?" He decided not to put the question to Edge, joking that in light of Edge's recent stage fall he shouldn't be asked anything complicated. Bono then asked Adam how he feels about being a recently married man, to which Adam said that "I feel like a natural woman".
