Comments: U2 perform at the 1981 Pinkpop Festival. It is by far their largest crowd to date, with an estimated crowd of 48,000 (the venue had a capacity for 50,000). Along with other performers, U2's set is recorded and broadcast on Dutch radio on 17 June. Two songs - I Will Follow and The Electric Co. - are also shown on Dutch TV. Though advertised on the festival's poster The Pretenders did not perform. T.C. Matic and UB40, who were not advertised, did appear.
