This opening leg of the tour was booked after U2 decided against visiting New Zealand and Australia on the War Tour due to their exhaustion from touring. Their unfamiliarity with most of the material on their upcoming album, The Unforgettable Fire, meant that most sets were similar to those played on the War Tour.
