From: Octu2 on 2005-11-18 00:50:14
Yes Lucia, you should do that!!!This girl is cute...and she should have gotten up there with that shirt!!!! Bono looks like he did in the Sweetest Thing video!!

hahaha...Today I finally got my e-voucher for the shows....yesssssss.....:-))))))).....I still can't believe I'm going to listen to his beautiful voice again...wow...you know I also have a cowboy hat that I bought in Australia..I could bring it with me and give it to him...I hope to get the front row or the catwalk....I have already prepared the translation of Turnia a Surriento and the link of this website with his nickname...maybe will be all unuseful but at least I can say " ok,I tried!"....
From: Ingrid on 2005-11-18 15:43:50
maybe, I dunno if it works but maybe you can print some funny comments out in supersize on a paper, and give him that?
From: Octu2 on 2005-11-18 23:23:27
Just don't jazz up the hat very much. There was a girl at ours that had a cowboy hat that has shinny sequins and he didn't really pay any attention to her. Seems to me that he is picking girls that have green shirts with something irish on it. Like at ours she was wearing green and the girl above!!
From: Soulcatgirl on 2005-11-18 23:35:23
Oct do you know who that girl was in the shiny hat?????? It was the girl that has been on stage with him 4 times!!!!! There she was right in the friggin front again...I almost croaked when I saw her!!! ...That hat got my attention....and guess what I saw her really good at the second show too ....yeppa right up front!!!! What is her name ???? She was here talking to us *screams at self*........ I swear my brain!! She is asian and very cute, has a tolerant hubby *and baby* who helps and enables her to go to practically all of the U2's shows......Oh her name! !*smacks desk*...... help meeeeeeee plze........she was in the news paper too! grrr
From: boomcha on 2005-11-19 19:03:22
Was that at the start of the tour?? Think I remember something. The comments got nasty in some way, didnt they??
From: boomcha on 2005-11-19 19:05:16
OH, btw that shirt is really sweet!!! And so true for all of us :-) At least mine are more welsh than irish ;-)Is that the hat from the Sweetest thing video?? Looks like that.

Soulcat her name was Alli. I don't know, but I think she is a bit greedy trying to always get up there!! i'm still stumpped that Bono would pull her up there that many times. I was telling my hubby that she better not get up there or I would walk as far down there as I could get, before security got me and yell at her. I love them to death but she almost is too much. I was so happy that he picked that cute girl and gave her a piggy back ride. I read the story of Alli's in the paper and it kind of rubbed me the wrong way. That outfit she wore was so over the top that I could see her from the rafters. Can you tell I'm irritated :S
From: Lucia on 2005-11-19 20:25:25
jeezzz...these things drive me crazy..ggrrrr...the girl who was pulled up on stage in Rome knew perfectly the boss of the security and that's why she did it!...and remeber that one of Berlin?Same girl of the elevation tour....you feel immediately that it not a coincidence...blahhhhhh....it's a miracle if you can get the front row,try to imagine to be pulled up 4 times or 2!!!!...I had to wait fifteen years and get almost arrested to go close to B....ggrrr.....btw Oct I like you when you get so upset.....even if I would stay away from ya... :-))))

Hi!I just want to comment about the last couple of posts and the infamous article. First off, I didn't mean to offend anyone on here. I don't post often but since I came across these comments, I wanted to tell my side of the story. First off - the newspaper article: I was completely offended by it. When I spoke to the newspaper reporter, I assumed it was suppose to be about a local Bay Area fan who loves U2 and goes to many shows. I spoke very little about my onstage experiences. The article made it seem like I go to shows to get onstage - I NEVER said anything of the sort...I go to shows because of the music and how inspirational they make me feel. I never thought the article would take the spin that it did and make it seem like I'm this greedy girl who only goes to shows to dance with Bono - NOT TRUE AT ALL. Here's what I'm guiltly of - I do try to get rail spots whether it be inside or outside the ellipse. However, I don't try to get Bono's attention with signs, costumes, hats or the like. I did the first time I was onstage (with a sign) but since then, I just dance and have fun. In terms of wearing a shiny hat, I've never worn a hat to a show. The first Oakland show, I was front row in the ellipse, but didn't wear a cowboy hat. I was thrilled to see Irene onstage with Bono - she was absolutely adorable and couldn't have been happier for her. 2nd night in Oakland, I was outside the ellipse on the rail, but still not wearing a cowboy hat. Both nights I was wearing a tank top (nothing written on it) and jeans. So maybe you're thinking about the wrong person? All I know is that I love going to U2 shows because of the music and the many great friends you meet along the way. I love when girls get up onstage...for the first time or the nth time. Once again, I apologize for offending anyone. Dreaming out loud,Alli
From: Alli on 2005-11-19 23:25:38
to Sylvia- Congrats on your dance! I love the look on your face....and that shirt is fantastic!
From: Soulcatgirl on 2005-11-20 03:21:18
Good heavens Alli.....Sorry I thought it was you in the shiny sparkly cowboy hat...*kitty has a big duh on her face!* ...and let me set the record straight I was not annoyed even if it had been you.. ;)) .. I was not offended at all by the article in the paper I thought it was precious that you get to follow your dreams and have a mate that doesn't hinder you in achieving it... so please forgive me if I made it sound like I was irritated because I'm not in the least *pee green with envy*hihi..... I really did think it was you in on the elipse both nights *kitty squinting without glasses*.......a very cute asian girl that could be your twin was vying for my man ....lolLet me tell you if I had an opportunity to get up on stage with Bono 30 times I'd go for it and never look back.......this talk is all harmless chit chat from all of us gals...we would love to be in your shoes you can bank on that.... :)) ..... you keep on with getting on and if you do get up there AGAIN please mention us u2-babes to THE MAN....*oh sure like you can hear a damn thing up there when your wraped in Bono's arms!* hehehehe....grrrr
From: Lucia on 2005-11-21 12:17:53
Hi Alli,I read what you wrote...I didn't want to offend you in some way,I don't even know you and I haven't read the article on the newspaper...btw I was just underlining that it sounds me weird that a person can go on stage several times..probably for Us fans it's easier coz the arena contains less people than european gigs and for sure the atmosphere is more intimate than a stadium so it easier happens that Bono can look at you if you have a nice sign in your hand.As I told before I have known that the girl who was on stage here in Rome was a friend of the security boss and she already knew that she would have been pulled up during With or without you song...I'm always happy to see girls on stage with Bono but when it happens like this it tastes different coz we all love the man, stand the line from early morning and want to share a dream to dance with him..that's the point.Btw I'm always happy to be at U2 show and listen to beautiful B's voice, that's why I'm flying 14.000 kms return to do this, just to live this great passion for this band. And like all the fans I would like to have the same, small opportunity to be on stage with him...who wouldn't it?But unfortunately sometimes it works in a bad way and this makes me really upset...that's only my personal point of vue!Btw you're a very lucky girl...tell us your secret!.... :-)
From: Ingrid on 2005-11-21 16:04:38
huh lucia, how the efff did that girl get up??? I don't get it... she knew the security guy... but did he mention to bono about her or so??? how else can Bono say wich girl he wnats.... :S also I don't think they should encourage this kind of behaviour... if I was Bono and found that out... ohhh I would SO pick another girl!
From: Lucia on 2005-11-21 21:24:40
well Ing I think it works in this way: they decide a setlist and most of the times B says in which song the girl has to be pulled up,in european tour there were two songs..with or without you and all I want is you.In milan show B chose the girl on the Edge 's side platform even if that part the stage is very close to people...in Rome insted the girl was in front of the main stage and my first impression was that he just indicated down and in 2 micro seconds Simona was on stage...too fast!...for example when he pulled up a guy at the beginning of elevation to traslate something for him I was just behind this man and the scene was so clear:he had a sign in his hand,B first read it and then said "come on up!"..such a nice moment!then days ago I was on the forum and there was a big deal about this thing..btw I will always get upset with these things but this not means that it happens every time of course!and probably this just an italian way....oucchhh....lucky to be at the show btw, ALWAYS!!! :-))
From: Ingrid on 2005-11-22 16:37:13
oh those girls should be punished! Ok, I would do the same.. well, besides that I don't know security guys and stuff... and I think I wouldn't do that... not that I don't want it,... but if B wants to dance with me he'll choose me, it's his choice... and I don't want to be up there because I have connections... that would kill some of the magic...
From: Lucia on 2005-11-22 19:50:32
I agree with you but as I told it doesn't happen all the times...I was reading today on our forum that when she came down from the stage she had a big discussion with another girl who was with her and we supposed to be pulled up...from what I heard it was a big fight..knifes and blood!...uuhhh...better to stay in the crowd and have fun...and keep dreaming on!! :-)))
From: Susanne on 2005-11-22 20:44:14
Uhuh, I don't know if I'm living too deep in the U2-fantasyland but I never even thought that some girls could end up on stage that way, Lucia... Doesn't seem to fit in to the spirit of the concerts.. It does make me sad to think that some people are using those situations "wrongly"... Well lucky there's not too many of them, I hope... *goes and dives back into the bright blue sea surrounding the Island With No Name*
From: Soulcatgirl on 2005-11-22 22:40:32
Kitty scratches head ...I guess I don't get around enough I'm in the dark here?.....what is all the fuss about on line? Lucia what was on the forum that everyone was up in arms over? Not kidding I don't get around much on line...... But first I have to ask ....be truthful now ;)) ...if one of you guys had a relative or a friend that worked in a venue and that person could get you not only on the friggin stage with my dream boat Bono but could get you a back stage pass as well, would you say "oh no thats not right let's give it to that girl over there..*points to perfect stranger passing by*.... tell me would you not jump at the chance to meet BONO if you were given first hand passage to him???????? be honest now? .....I have to say I'm a complete uncooth heathen of the first order and I would not think of anyone else except BONOOOOO....nothing except maybe "what I could possibly wear" *panic attack* and what could I say to him that wouldn't make me look like a complete idiot of which I generally am !! ....what say you guys?...
From: Lucia on 2005-11-23 11:17:46
I say that probably you're right Soulie,if I've had the chance or a back stage pass I would have kept them for me....I have two friends who worked in the security and they confirmed me what it's told in the forum...the point is in what Ingrid said before....these things kill the magic...and I can tell this is true! I've always seen u2 shows from GA section and most of times I was in the front...until the end you keep dreaming to dance with him and if you know that's already organized,uhh...I don't know but I don't like it.Let's happen things normally...what do you think?Btw to be on stage 2,3,4......nth times without connections means that you're blessed by God or Santa Klaus or St.Patrick and you don't know... :-))
From: Ingrid on 2005-11-23 14:52:58
you're right soulie! We women are very selfish and prolly would do exactly the same.. but still I think, yes I would want the backstage pass, but forget about the stage then! If I"m gonna meet him backstage then I can let some of the magic still be there and not screw with B's choice of dancepartner.. hmmmm I really need some connections here!
From: Susanne on 2005-11-23 19:52:11
Amen to that Lucia and Ingrid and Soulie... But I still hope that girls getting onstage like that, knowing somebody from staff isn't going to be a very general way... I like more the thought that Bono sees nice sign, smile, shirt or whatever and picks up people on stage because of that...
From: Octu2 on 2005-11-23 20:19:14
Yes Susanne, I think that is the way it should be,it should be a surprise and like this girl above, totally happy having been picked to go up. Most of the time I think it is like that, but when someone goes up that many times, sure it is great for them and maybe if I were younger I would do it,but as a 40 something person,I think it isn't right. I think others deserve a chance to get up there. Now ,I still don't see how Alli got up there 4 times. Do tell?!
From: Ingrid on 2005-11-23 21:03:24
uhh oct, if you really look like 27 you might aswell be picked out.... ^^ go for GA tickets next time!

Hi girls!Sorry if my last post seemed a little on the defensive side. (hiding in the corner). I just wanted to tell my side of the story before (if it ever would) turn ugly. I took quite a lot of bashing from that article on another forum so i wanted to defend myself. Anyway, thanks to all of you for the kind words .In any case, I do know I was never approached by security (venue or U2's security) beforehand that I would be going up. None of my friends who have been onstage have ever been approached either. It was all a surprise and all done by Bono at the moment. No one ever knew beforehand. U2's security have always said (well in the case of this tour) that they've never picked out the girls beforehand. Bono always does and U2 security have know idea who he's picking until B says come on and motions to come up. So in the case of what happened in Rome, maybe the girl knew venue security and they were trying to get her onstage but I doubt they were talking to Bono during the show. But who really knows?!?! I know some of the girls onstage (Miroslava, Khelia - Chicago DVD + 3 others and a few other lucky ladies) never knew we were dancing onstage until Bono said come on up! I also know I've been EXTREMELY LUCKY and very appreciative of my experiences. I never in my wildest dreams would've thought I'd be one of those girls. All of the girls who want a dance with Bono, keep dreaming out loud...i hope it happens to one of you!!!
From: Soulcatgirl on 2005-11-24 01:29:39

From: Lucia on 2005-11-24 13:57:26

From: Alli on 2005-11-25 05:18:45
