U2's Los Angeles #2 setlist 27/05
Tonight, U2 played the second of five concerts in Inglewood, California. The band played with heavy hearts, as longtime tour manager Dennis Sheehan died of a suspected heart attack in his Los Angeles hotel room after last night's show. Bono briefly spoke of Sheehan's history with the band before Iris. (We at U2gigs would also like to send our condolences to Dennis Sheehan's friends and family.)
In tribute to Sheehan, this show ended with the tour debut of 40. The audience maintained the tradition of singing a lengthy refrain of "how long to sing this song?" after the band left the stage. 40 is the second song from War to be performed this tour, and has only been played once since 20 February 2006 - as the final song of the final 360 Tour show on 30 July 2011. Out Of Control and Angel Of Harlem returned to the set after missing one show, and Bad and Desire returned after missing two shows. Bad's performance was spontaneous; there was no song listed on the printed setlist between Beautiful Day and With Or Without You. Desire and Angel Of Harlem were played at the same show for the first time since 30 November 2006 - subsequently, when they have been performed, they have rotated with each other between shows for the same setlist position.
Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin, a big U2 fan (and former U2 frontman for one night!) was also spotted enjoying the show from the general admission pit. The full setlist was:
