This show was forgotten to the wider U2 fanbase until an article in the Western People newspaper in 2005. Since then further details have come to light. The town was not part of the rock touring circuit, and U2's appearance was an attempt to change that reality. A thin crowd of about sixty people attended but the band put in a good performance. However, it was marred afterwards when a row erupted and one of U2's crew was caught up in the middle. U2 rushed out from backstage to intervene and became the target of aggression - Bono was hit on the back with a chair and Adam's glasses were broken. The fight was finally broken up by police, fortunately without serious injuries. Two young local men were fined £9.50 each for thei roles in the fight.
