Comments: U2's first concert in South Africa, the only African country they have performed in to date. This concert was not originally in draft tour itineraries distributed at the start of Popmart's third leg in 1997; instead, a concert at Singapore's National Stadium was scheduled provisionally on this date. The Singapore show never happened (to date Japan is the only Asian country in which U2 have performed) and the Cape Town show was added. Happy birthday is sung for Adam Clayton, who turned 38 three days earlier.
