Comments: Between their Vertigo Tour concerts in Sao Paulo and Santiago, U2 attend Carnival in Salvador as guests of Brazilian pop star Gilberto Gil. During the celebrations, bands play atop trucks in the street. Ivete Sangalo, performing atop a truck, coaxes Bono, Edge, and Gil to come out onto the balcony of Gil’s residence and sing Vertigo with her for the large crowd in the street. They get microphones and sing. Bono then tries to sing some of Ivete’s song Chupa Toda with her. Later, Bono and Gil perform a Bob Marley cover popular in Brazil via Gil’s own version of it.
