The below is an off-site archive of all most tweets posted by @u2gigs ever

October 2009

Now here’s a snippetwatch. 1984-11-02, London - Bad has Elvis Presley And America! Thanks James H.!

 via web

Vertigo today had a snippet of Rock ‘n’ Roll High School by the Ramones. Thanks Steve for pointing it out!

 via web

Today’s full set, stats, etc.: http://bit.ly/481pbT

 via web

Yep, that’s all. Springsteen did 17 song set inc. encore last night, but it’s just ~10 (depending on how you count things!) for U2.

 via web

@DocH32 Not sure if MW was even complete! It segued into Where Is The Love, presumably no slide solo.

via web in reply to DocH32

Show might be over…

 via web

Now, the spoiler set posted earlier ended with Beautiful Day. Is this it, then? Or will there be more…?

 via web

@EdgeFest Jagger and Springsteen may not be second raters, but BEP, well…

via web in reply to EdgeFest

U2 now doing Beautiful Day. No guests on stage for this.

 via web

And now the band are doing Stuck In A Moment with Mick Jagger.

 via web

OK, I’m going to count One as a snippet of Where Is The Love until proven otherwise.

 via web

Fergie’s still on for Gimme Shelter, by the way.

 via web

One might have just been a snippet in Where Is The Love… not entirely clear.

 via web

And now Mick Jagger has come out to join U2 for Gimme Shelter!

 via web

Speaking of Where Is The Love, it has segued into One. WTF.

 via web

Where Is The Love totally needs a Love And Peace Or Else snippet.

 via web

MW segues into Where Is The Love with the Black Eyed Peas.

 via web

Sixth is Mysterious Ways.

 via web

@U2_News Hilarious! Though I’m not counting Because The Night 3 times in the set since the “third” time was just the intro.

via web in reply to u2_news

As no surprise to anybody, Bono preceded I Still Haven’t Found with a speech.

 via web

Now that they’ve got Because The Night down, fifth is I Still Haven’t Found with Bruce. Remind anybody of this?: http://ow.ly/xOqP

 via web

Guess I’ll add Because The Night to the set as both song three and four then!

 via web

RT @ndmusic Bono: “How about one more time?” They do “Because the Night” over to fix a Patti Smith mistake and then do the open a 3rd time

 via web

Because The Night has been repeated, due to missed cues and problems in the first attempt.

 via web

Bono has previously performed Because The Night as a guest at a Bruce Springsteen gig, 2002-11-23.

 via web

Third is Because The Night with Bruce Springsteen and Patti Smith!

 via web

Second is Magnificent.

 via web

First song of the night is Vertigo.

 via web

U2 will be on very soon…

 via web

@nielstenhave Not sure yet. Will post if there is.

via web in reply to nielstenhave

@RyanCJW I was just about to say you might want to redirect it. ;)

via web in reply to RyanCJW

Metallica also covered Queen’s Stone Cold Crazy, and closed with Enter Sandman. U2 next!

 via web

@Matkin22 I’d never buy an ATYCLB remaster anyway! Not unless they changed the tracklist to TGBHF x11.

via web in reply to EveryBrokenWave

…then Ray Davies for You Really Got Me and All Day And All Of The Night. Quite the celebration for the Rock Hall.

 via web

Metallica have brought the special guests. Sweet Jane and White Light/White Heat with Lou Reed, Iron Man and Paranoid with Ozzy Osbourne…

 via web

@Matkin22 Didn’t an early version of the song have a Jagger vocal? Makes sense they’d do it I suppose, but urgh.

via web in reply to EveryBrokenWave

@Matkin22 I don’t believe it. Bah.

via web in reply to EveryBrokenWave

Courtesy of @MSGnyc, setlist spoiler for U2 tonight: http://twitpic.com/nm1ao

 via web

@Matkin22 Disown them and turn this into Axver’sAlternateRealityU2Gigs where they play Heartland live often. ;)

via web in reply to EveryBrokenWave

Then Metallica do Sweet Jane with Lou Reed! Wow.

 via web

Metallica may’ve opened with For Whom The Bell Tolls, not sure if it was before or after One. Then Bob Seger’s Turn The Page.

 via web

At the Rock Hall gig, Jeff Beck is done, Metallica on now. Opened with One, but not U2’s One. ;) U2 will follow them…

 via web

And, of course, thanks to @u2start for putting me onto the snip in the first place!

 via web

Thanks to Adrian for linking me to Brussels audio, I’ve confirmed Native Son snip by Edge in Vertigo on 2005-06-10. Set: http://ow.ly/xN7W

 via web

At the Rock Hall, Jeff Beck has covered People Get Ready with Sting. No Bono? I’m stunned he resisted running out for this number!

 via web

I’d pay good money to see U2 and Metallica join forces and play a medley of their respective songs titled One.

 via web

Metallica still to come, then U2 close out the night.

 via web

Aretha Franklin Rock Hall set: Baby I Love You, Chain Of Fools (with Annie Lennox), New York New York, Think (with Lenny Kravitz), Respect.

 via web

@atu2 Hey - ask about a RAH remaster/Lovetown DVD. We know they have footage of 17, 18, 19 November 1989, Sydney.

via web in reply to atu2

@atu2 I want to know why U2 never answers Bono’s “what time is it in the world?” with 11 O’clock Tick Tock…

via web in reply to atu2

@Matkin22 Not yet… turns out I don’t actually have the bootleg of the show, for one thing.

via web in reply to EveryBrokenWave

@atu2 I’ve a whole boatload of setlist questions! And the obligatory “when are they coming to Australia?”

 via web

I’m drafting a U2gigs mainpage article… according to my typos, U2 are playing at the Rock “Hall Of Game”.

 via web

At the Rock Hall 25th right now, Aretha Franklin is performing.

 via web

I suspect U2 rehearsed Gimme Shelter with Mick Jagger. They soundchecked it in Vancouver.

 via web

Patti Smith at one point joined U2 and Bruce. Mick Jagger rehearsed with U2. Songs unknown for both.

 via web

U2 and Bruce Springsteen rehearsed I Still Haven’t Found. U2 and the Black Eyed Peas rehearsed Where Is The Love.

 via web

Hi folks, U2 play Rock Hall of Fame 25th anniversary gig today. Via @UniTeeForAll and @StyleHousePR, we learn soundchecking happened earlier

 via web

Don’t forget - U2 play Rock Hall Of Fame 25th anniversary gig at Madison Square Gardens in two days, Friday the 30th!

 via web

Today’s full setlist: http://bit.ly/1ls9pi

 via web

That’s all for today, folks, and that’s all for 360 for the year too. Not sure quite how I feel really. From mid-June to now, been a blast.

 via web

25th and presumably last is Moment Of Surrender.

 via web

24th is With Or Without You.

 via web

Should note that UV had the W. H. Auden poem as the intro, not the Zoobaby. Token variation taken to extremes!

 via web

23rd is Ultra Violet.

 via web

Second encore break, meaning last likely chance of a change is gone. I was hoping Bad would follow Streets to mark last gig of the leg.

 via web

@xtfr Most welcome! Glad you enjoyed. It’s going to be weird not having any full tour gigs to cover for a good few months.

via web in reply to ChristopherFCVQ

22nd, Streets.

 via web

One has the Hear Us Coming verse, then the Amazing Grace snippet leads into…

 via web

Desmond Tutu’s speech … leeeaaads … into! ONE! ONE! song number twenty-ONE!

 via web

First encore break. Thanks to @EdgeFest for the extra details!

 via web

Walk On has the You’ll Never Walk Alone snip.

 via web

@U2start Huh, cool. Once I get the chance to hear it for myself and confirm, I’ll add it to the database.

via web in reply to U2start

20th is Walk On.

 via web

@U2start I’ll have to add this to the set. Start of the second Vertigo of the night, I assume?

via web in reply to U2start

Via @EdgeFest, Crazy Tonight had Two Tribes snip.

 via web

19th is MLK.

 via web

18th is Sunday Bloody Sunday.

 via web

@Hoosier2012 Native Son is one of my five or six favourite U2 songs of the 2000s. Vertigo? Could hardly care less.

via web in reply to Hoosier2012

@U2start I seem to have somehow missed that!

via web in reply to U2start

17th is Crazy Tonight.

 via web

@Hoosier2012 On the Vertigo Tour when they did Vertigo x2, one of them should’ve actually been Native Son. That would’ve made it all OK.

via web in reply to Hoosier2012

@jamiemcderment Heh, no problem, the names ARE awkwardly similar!

via web in reply to jamietrevor

16th is Native Son- nah, still only Vertigo.

 via web

@jamiemcderment Actually, COBL video was filmed at GM Place arena in Vancouver, not BC Place stadium.

via web in reply to jamietrevor

15th is City Of Blinding Lights.

 via web

14th is The Unforgettable Fire

 via web

RT @EdgeFest OMG someone just jumped on stage at the back and got tackled instantly by 10 security guys, band didn’t even notice.

 via web

13th is Until The End Of The World.

 via web

@U2start Yeah, assuming no changes, Happy Birthday will bump this to 25 songs… that really doesn’t feel right, but oh well.

via web in reply to U2start

@jpstarkey I’ve considered just noting Happy Birthday in the comments, but keeping it in the set makes it searchable, so… *shrug*

via web in reply to jpstarkey

@jamiemcderment Seems like it’s pretty good!

via web in reply to jamietrevor

12th is Unknown Caller. Static set or no static set, I’m glad this has returned.

 via web

@U2start Psh, it was just a suggestion. ;) (I sometimes feel iffy counting Happy B’day separately, but… what else to do with it, y’know?)

via web in reply to U2start

11th is… In A Little While. Damn, no setlist changes.

 via web

@Matkin22 I hate IALW studio but it’s OK live. Stuck is one of my least favourite U2 songs ever, no matter how it’s done.

via web in reply to EveryBrokenWave

@U2start You’re not including Happy Birthday in the set? It was done separately from the other songs, so I think it should be counted.

via web in reply to U2start

Really hoping U2 surprise us and play something other than IALW next. YBR? Party Girl for Larry’s upcoming birthday?

 via web

@Matkin22 I miss the European gigs where they only did 2 ATYCLB songs. That’s all that’s necessary.

via web in reply to EveryBrokenWave

Tenth is Elevation.

 via web

@RangerPete61 Honestly not sure. Don’t think the same song has always preceded Space Oddity either; definitely differed between shows I saw.

via web in reply to RangerPete61

@Matkin22 Stuck in an Elevation Tour moment!

via web in reply to EveryBrokenWave

Ninth is No Line On The Horizon.

 via web

I’m counting Happy Birthday as song #7 and Stuck as song #8.

 via web

Next song is Stuck In A Moment.

 via web

RT @EdgeFest Bill Gates here tonight and Bono just sang Happy Birthday to him.

 via web

Stand By Me snip at the end of Still Haven’t Found.

 via web

U2 have static sets, I have static jokes… see, it makes perfect sense.

 via web

Bono, of course, still can’t find the concise speech he’s looking for. (I still can’t find a new joke to replace this one, sorry.)

 via web

Sixth is I Still Haven’t Found.

 via web

Via @EdgeFest, Beautiful Day has the Blackbird snip at the end.

 via web

@Angela_Holtzen Plus the world needs to be exposed to the awesomeness of YBR!

via web in reply to Angela_Holtzen

@Angela_Holtzen Breathe my least favourite U2 opener ever (not hyperbole; I did a ranking). Crowd often seems bored after 3 mins of Breathe.

via web in reply to Angela_Holtzen

Fifth is Beautiful Day.

 via web

@Angela_Holtzen I’m genuinely surprised they filmed IALW instead of YBR. We have IALW on the Boston DVD already! YBR = left out in the cold.

via web in reply to Angela_Holtzen

Fourth is Mysterious Ways.

 via web

@Drea104 Party Girl in honour of Larry’s upcoming birthday would be a treat! But they haven’t done it since 07/07…

via web in reply to Drea104

Third is Magnificent.

 via web

@jpstarkey How I wish they’d stuck with it… or given NLOTH a chance, instead of shunting it later. It needs to be early in the set!

via web in reply to jpstarkey

Second is Boots.

 via web

@Angela_Holtzen I was especially disappointed Pasadena didn’t get YBR, as I’d have loved that to have been filmed.

via web in reply to Angela_Holtzen

Quietly hoping tonight’s set will require more than just a copy-and-paste job from the last 4 shows.

 via web

You’ll be stunned to learn the first song of the set is… Breathe!

 via web

Intro music playing in Vancouver right now.

 via web

@damiankindler More like one possibility, and one possibility only…

via web in reply to damiankindler

@cgpeterson923 I think they are a very poor choice to open a U2 concert. Plus I simply find their music insufferable.

via web in reply to cgkirscht923

@Matkin22 Crew soundchecks aren’t always indicative… e.g. on Popmart, Dallas soundchecked Zoo Station even though U2 weren’t playing it.

via web in reply to EveryBrokenWave

@Matkin22 25/10? Pretty sure that was the crew. U2 did their own soundcheck later.

via web in reply to EveryBrokenWave

@Matkin22 I doubt the set will change much, but maybe a little something special for the last show. Bad?

via web in reply to EveryBrokenWave

Black Eyed Peas just finished their final opening set for U2 (5 opening sets too many). Now we wait for the band…

 via web

@Tvbona No, haven’t seen any rumours re: 2010 openers. Wonder how many other bands have planned this far in advance anyway!

via web in reply to Tvbona

Hi folks, Ax here for last 360 Tour gig of 2009! 2nd leg ends in Vancouver today. Black Eyed Peas on at the moment.

 via web

Finally got 2 tickets. Robbie Williams for free last week; U2 for free next week. Berlin is the place to be this time around. Matt

 via web

U2’s EMA performance seems to be sold out for the moment. Got no tickets myself due to the more than crappy Eventim.de system. Matt

 via web

@eventimblog Would be great if the site would work for at least one sale this year … at the moment it does not. Same procedure as usual.

via web in reply to eventimblog

U2 to perform in front of the Brandenburg Gate: Just after the band wrap up the 360° Tour for 2009, they are heading to http://url4.eu/gEkH

 via RSS2Twitter

Guess what. U2 are performing in front of Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate as part of MTV’s Europe Music Awards on 5 November.

 via web

Two concerts for Spain in 2010: At present, just one Spanish concert has been confirmed for 2010: 29 September 2010 in S http://url4.eu/fuq0

 via RSS2Twitter

Snippetwatch, 2001-02-26: One had Walking Away and Walk On; UTEOTW had Two Tribes. Thanks @Matkin22!

 via web

@BonoVoxGS The 2009 European leg? No shows were shot for DVD.

via web in reply to BonoVoxGS

@wind_mill_lane …after all, they can’t stay in North America much longer as the stage needs to get to Europe by early August.

via web in reply to wind_mill_lane

@wind_mill_lane There have been some Boston rumours, but I don’t see where it’s meant to fit into this announced schedule…

via web in reply to wind_mill_lane

OK folks, rumours getting stronger that South American gigs will take place in 2010 before the just-announced North American dates.

 via web

@greety The MOS “rap” is Bono’s original lyrics as far as I know. Not sure how many gigs have had it.

via web in reply to greety

2010 North American tour dates announced: Right as the Los Angeles concert finished today, U2’s 2010 North American tour http://url4.eu/eTHt

 via RSS2Twitter

I’ve updated the 2010 North American tour announcement article with some stats and stuff: http://bit.ly/239crn

 via web

Haha, U2.com’s tour page still claims the Athens and Istanbul presales end on “31 November”, not 31 October.

 via web

Presales for Oakland, Edmonton, and Toronto begin on TUESDAY! Yes, this Tuesday, 27 October.

 via web

The Denver gig will go on sale on 6 November.

 via web

The Oakland, Toronto, and Edmonton gigs go on sale on 2 November!

 via web

Here we go, 2010 North American tour dates: http://www.u2gigs.com/ar…

 via web

And guess what? 2010 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED. I’ll have them on U2gigs as soon as physically possible!

 via web

#u2webcast Today’s full U2 setlist and statistics: http://bit.ly/2oHCyk

 via web

And that’s the show for tonight, folks. YouTube did a damn good job on the broadcast.

 via web

24th and presumably last song is Moment Of Surrender.

 via web

With Or Without You does not have Shine Like Stars verse. It’s sadly only been done twice this tour.

 via web

23rd is With Or Without You.

 via web

And here it is: 22nd is Ultra Violet.

 via web

Here’s the Zoobaby intro. This will lead into Ultra Violet.

 via web

@BonoVoxGS Yeah, Pride has missed the last 17 shows - it’s a record. Personally, I think it never sounded as good live as it did in studio.

via web in reply to BonoVoxGS

Second encore break now.

 via web

Streets did not have the All You Need Is Love snippet today.

 via web

@skid63 Not sure if you mean One or Amazing Grace… both leave me cold. Except the Hear Us Coming verse, which is good.

via web in reply to skid63

21st is Where The Streets Have No Name.

 via web

Now the Amazing Grace snippet…

 via web

One has the Hear Us Coming verse.

 via web

@Matkin22 I bloody hope they give Drowning Man a run next year. I’m surprised White As Snow didn’t crop up in Stuck’s setlist spot.

via web in reply to EveryBrokenWave

20th song, first of encore, is One.

 via web

Here’s Desmond Tutu and his speech. He’s on fire more than Edge tonight. ;)

 via web

Time for the first encore break.

 via web

You’ll Never Walk Alone snippet at the end of Walk On.

 via web

19th is Walk On.

 via web

@Matkin22 Yep! Though I remain curious about that acoustic MW they rehearsed… it’d beat the neutered electric version they’re doing now.

via web in reply to EveryBrokenWave

Bono’s speechifying about Aung San Suu Kyi. 18th is MLK.

 via web

No snip in the middle of SBS. This song really sounds so much better this tour - kills the versions on the last two tours.

 via web

17th is Sunday Bloody Sunday.

 via web

Two Tribes snip at the end of Crazy.

 via web

To me, UF and Crazy Tonight are the two truly great live songs of the 360 Tour.

 via web

Huh, no snip at the start of Crazy Tonight.

 via web

Here we goooo. 16th is Crazily Awesome Tonight.

 via web

Vertigo has a snip of It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll by the Rolling Stones.

 via web

15th is Vertigo.

 via web

@RangerPete61 They dropped Pride after the 1st Chicago show I think because they’d run out of passion for it and mediocre crowd response.

via web in reply to RangerPete61

Keeping track of what U2’s played so far here: http://bit.ly/2oHCyk #u2webcast

 via web

Bono didn’t snippet a lyric from Mofo over COBL’s intro today, alas.

 via web

14th is City Of Blinding Lights.

 via web

13th is The Unforgettable Fire. :fuckyeah: Volume goes uuup.

 via web

@Hoosier2012 IALW is on the Elevation Boston DVD.

via web in reply to Hoosier2012

12th is Until The End Of The World.

 via web

Wish they’d done Your Blue Room instead of IALW. We already have IALW on DVD. Plus, Your Blue Room is sheer awesome.

 via web

Eleventh is Unknown Caller.

 via web

Edge, if you’re going to play the Explorer, please rock it out with some 11 O’clock Tick Tock, not IALW.

 via web

Tenth is In A Little While.

 via web

@wowhorse I had it on the speakers, sounded no different to other versions this tour (though admittedly I was in the next room).

via web in reply to wowhorse

@wind_mill_lane It was. ;) They did both remix AND normal versions in Barcelona, 2 July 2009.

via web in reply to wind_mill_lane

Ninth is Elevation.

 via web

@atu2 I’d agree with you if it weren’t for Crazy Tonight’s sheer awesomeness.

 via web

NLOTH is a bloody great song. Wish it was the opener.

 via web

Back in time (with a choc muffin, aw yeah) for No Line On The Horizon in eighth.
