Edge was not 1st U2 member to perform at Glasto, as @HJWoj has pointed out. Adam was, 21 years ago, with Hothouse Flowers: http://u2.gs/HF
@HJWoj Well spotted, I’d forgotten that! Will edit article accordingly.
Video of Edge performing Streets with Muse, plus a bit of trivia: http://u2.gs/5Z
For those of you interested, here’s a link to Muse’s full Glasto setlist (Edge appears at start of encore): http://u2.gs/5Y
@skid63 Haha, sounds exactly like what I say whenever U2 cover somebody else. ;)
Our article with full details of Edge guesting with Muse at Glasto: http://u2.gs/5X
Just working on a mainpage article for U2gigs about Edge playing Streets with Muse. Give me a few, it’s still early this side of the world!
Musically, it sounded like a U2 performance; Chris and Dom nailed Adam and Larry’s parts. Edge was awesome and got a big cheer from crowd.
Very, very good cover. Bellamy sung powerfully, and probably delivered a more consistent performance than Bono sometimes does these days.
Edge waves to the crowd, leaves … Muse go into Plug-in Baby, aw yeah.
Actually, Bellamy is playing, but only a little bit. Not adding anything new to the sound.
Bellamy is holding a guitar but not using it yet …
Edge is even doing his backing vocals as per usual.
This is a rather faithful cover so far! Bellamy’s doing a really good job on the vocals; Edge is playing it exactly as he’s always done.
Actually, seems the video link is further behind than we think … no Edge yet on there! Only up to Stockholm Syndrome.
If you want to see, here’s video, it’s only slightly behind the live performance: http://u2.gs/5W
Edge guesting with Muse right now, they’re doing Where The Streets Have No Name!
@u2wanderer I wish they’d done the cover in full! It tops the original if you ask me.
@U2log I just can’t see One, WOWY, songs like that suiting Muse’s style. Though they are known to drastically re-invent covers.
My money says Edge will play The Fly with Muse. It suits both of their styles, Bellamy has snippeted the riff before, and it’s popular.
“This is out of control!” No, Matt Bellamy, it’s Resistance. (…my early morning “wit” strikes again?)
Since my last update, Muse have played: Nishe, United States of Eurasia, Undisclosed Desires, Resistance. No Edge yet.
@skid63 Heh, thanks, I’m glad you’re about! I’ve been missing the setlist parties. Seems not too many other people are around for this.
If you fancy video of Muse (and it’s live!), try this link: http://u2.gs/5W
Sorry, I know this is a U2 feed, but goddamn Muse are slaying Glasto with Citizen Erased. Will now keep updates sparse unless Edge appears.
So, for those playing at home, Muse’s set so far: Uprising, Supermassive Black Hole, Newborn, Problematique, Guiding Light. No Edge yet.
@skid63 I don’t think Guiding Light is bad, but I don’t think it’s great either. I miss the Muse that made Showbiz/OOS/Absolution.
Sorry for the link coming a few songs into Muse’s set. It’s morning here and I (Ax) only just woke. Glad I didn’t miss any Edge appearance!
If you want to hear Muse (and maybe Edge?) at Glasto, the BBC is broadcasting their set on a slight delay: http://u2.gs/5V
So, Muse are tearing up Glasto. Will the Edge rumours come true? Muse are awesome enough that I’m enjoying this whether or not he shows.
